Well, Marquette not doing anything well except for a brief stretch when Van Kleunen was making a string of mid range 2's. Now watch the American teams USF and UCF look competent.

Duffy is letting me down here, her defense is not working on the double team against Kitley and their offense if not fluid at all. Add in her comments that she thinks her team did not play well against UConn in the BET vs. what they did against UConn in the last game of the regular season has me thinking she's a bit delusional. Which was the outlier, playing UConn close in one game or getting smoked by UConn and now VPI? How about giving credit where credit is due, but then again, she did play under MM...

Come on Warriors, rally in the 2nd half!

The BE not looking so very good right now.

At least 4 times, on the double-team against Kitley, she's been able to pass to an open shooter right around the basket.

Marquette is fortunate that Sheppard is having an off day -- at least so far.

13 turnovers for Marquette in the first half. That's 13 opportunities not to get a shot.

So true. VTC could be up 20. Kitley looks so poised.

.-.
Kitley with 19 points now...Virginia Tech up 40-30 at the 3rd Q media timeout. Aisha Sheppard now on the board. Marquette playing with a little more focus now.

Don’t have the U so not sure what the matchups are like, but Selena Lott is a terrific defender. On WNBA draft boards as a 2nd/3rd round pick.

Timeout Marquette...8:18 left.

Elizabeth Kitley with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.

Marquette hits its first THREE with 1:56 left in the game. 64-52.

Now the Eagles have hit consecutive THREEs...this last one banked in. 65-55...1:29 left.

VT turnover...easy basket for Marquette. 65-57, 1:20 left. Timeout VT.

.-.
Van Kleunen for THREE...66-60, 52 seconds left.

Now, a jump ball. Marquette ball.

A THREE from Van Kleunen...66-63, 39 seconds left.

Two huge FT for VT...8 seconds left. 68-63 game.

Marquette on a 14-6 run to make this one really interesting down the stretch.

Final: VT advances to the second round, 70-63.

Elizabeth Kitley with 23 points for VT.

Marquette, a BE team, loses in the first round. UConn needs a tougher conference.
They did lose. But my gosh..those last 90 seconds were nervewracking. If they had made shots the entire game like they did in the last two minutes, the outcome might have been different.
