HEY! Don't you have a WNIT game to watch? Sorry, didn't mean to sound crass....I don't think this game will be close by Q4. Stanford by double digits

Also, Stanford plays great D, but there's no D in the word Stanford.![]()

Tomorrow. But I will watch the Stanford-Maryland game. I'm a fan of the Trees WBB Program.HEY! Don't you have a WNIT game to watch? Sorry, didn't mean to sound crass....![]()
Haha, I actually forgot about the D at the end, or I would have phrased that differently!Well, only one D, though I do Stan for Stanford. =)
Fair, but she's didn't face a player like Reese who loves to go hard to the basket. Knowing Maryland, they'll likely try to test Brink early to see if she maintains discipline.
At the same time, if Reese gets out of control, it could go the other way. Unfortunately, we have two more sleeps before we'll know for sure.
I expect both Brink and Reese to be better than the game in November. I just find the possibility of them having to match up during the game very interesting, especially with them fully healthy and raring to go.In the first matchup, Reese had 5 fouls in 15 minutes. Brink only played 9 minutes due to sickness and ended up throwing up on the sidelines in the 1st quarter. Prechtel was also out sick and didn’t play this game either. Reese was 2-13 for the game. I expect her to perform better, but I’d imagine she’d have an adjustment as she didn’t see half of our post rotation for very long, if at all that game.
Jones can do many things, but guarding Reese? I ain't sold on that one. Diamond Miller is also in a different gear right now and Benzan is shooting with a lot more confidence. Agree on Sellers. MD has been two or three different teams this season. The best version of those 3 better show up or...they are toast.I expect both Brink and Reese to be better than the game in November. The possible match ups in this game are very intriguing. Someone mentioned Jones may defend Reese, which makes sense, however I thought she'd be matched up with Miller more. I'm also curious as to whether Wilson would defend Owusu or Benzan.
The wildcard in this game here for Maryland is Sellers I think. She was thrown into the game back in November due to foul trouble and team illnesses. She's handled everything thrown at her and deserved the accolades she got in the BIG10 this year.
Why can't it be Friday yet?
Katie Benzan is another one of those long-range sharp shooters who has such a quick release. Not sure how good her shooting numbers are this year compared to last year (NCAA leader?), but someone from Stanford (Wilson?) will have to guard her tightly.Jones can do many things, but guarding Reese? Her numbers are down this year from 3 for sure. She's playing more point this year versus the 2. BUT, naw I wouldn't leave her open. lolKatie Benzan is another one of those long-range sharp shooters who has such a quick release. Benzan is shooting 45% which is still very good. Another interesting player for the Terps is Chloe Bibby. She's had four 20+ point games this season so the potential is there for her to have a great game. Her numbers are down this year from 3 for sure. She's playing more point this year versus the 2. I also lean Stanford simply because I think they’re the best team in the country right now, but Maryland looks vastly different with Miller and Benzan back and playing at form. Both were out in the November meeting, I believe.I don't have a dog in this race, but I like Stanford here. Stanford will wear you down. Cameron Brink is coming into her own. This is a game I want to watch.
#1 I am rooting for the Terps but they need their "A" game which has not been a regular participate this year for a team that returned everyone and had Angel Reese for the whole season.Benzan is shooting 45% which is still very good. Agreed. Had Collins made a smart choice and run offense with about 3min left (or if she hit the 3), it would've actually felt like the game was in reach for Maryland. It was ultimately too little too late. Rough year for Maryland as they've been littered with injuries. Felt bad for Miller who really struggled tonight and was visibly upset at the end. She's a great talent, hope she's fully healthy next year.Remember when Iowa led Indiana by like 30 after the third quarter, and then Indiana scored 40ish points in the fourth quarter to make the game seem "close" even though it never really was? That was this game in a nut shell.
Owusu didn't look like the same player last night. Has she missed games with an injury this season? I haven't followed the Terps that closely.Stanford win 72-66. Super weird game.
Maryland scores 30 points in the 4th quarter after scoring 36 points in the first 3 quarters.
Stanford won even though both Brink and Lacie Hull fouled out.
Reese had a good game but had no help. The Terps need to give her some help on the boards next season. outrebounded 50-32.
Several games due to injury and illness. Brenda said in her press conference that Owusu was under the weather. That is probably why she didn't play much in the 4th quarter.Owusu didn't look like the same player last night. Has she missed games with an injury this season? Angel Reese has quickly become one of my favorite players. She's so passionate and fiery in the best way.Owusu had a tough season. She missed a number of games to injury and played poorly after coming back. Stanford did a terrific job covering her(2-9) and Benzan(0-5). Stanford out rebounded Maryland 50 to 32. It's amazing that it was only a 6 point game! Angel Reese is going to be a star. She just gets better and better. She has size, quickness, and energy. It's clear that she loves the game.
