Lots of keys to this game. I think the #1 key to the game is foul trouble for either Brink or Reese. Both have capable backups but for either team to win, Brink and Reese have to stay on the floor.

I think the key will be Stanfords outside shooting. They’ve generally shot well from 3 as the season progresses but have had an off night or two. If Jump, the Hulls, and Wilson are on, it will go Stanfords way. If they are off, it will be a battle.

It's going to be a good one I can tell you that. Owusu is one of my favorites, but I think it will come down to coaching, Brenda Frese will...uh, Freeze. Brink and Reese will be in a contest to see who can foul the other out first. Who you got? lol

My key watch points will be how Stanford handles the “on-guard” ball pressure that Maryland execute. I still view Anna Wilson as suspect as a ball handler and if Owusu and Benzen can put some pressure on Hull and Wilson, they could exploit them.
Personally, I would prefer to see Reese on Jones to force Hayley to take more outside shots and let Bibby and Collins try to manage Brink. I think this could be a very interesting game for Stanford as Maryland can score.

Yup. I agree 100%. If Stanford is knocking down shots, especially if Haley Jones gets going, it is a wrap. We all know that Lexie is going to throw up some shots, as she should. She got the Green Light. But if Lexie is on fire. Hannah Jump is knocking down shots. Cameron Brink knocking down shots. Heck. Stanford got options! I do not see Maryland even keeping this one close but they gotta play the game. Can not wait to wait this one.

UM’s one of the worst 3-point defending teams in the tournament. Or at least they were during the regular season. Gonna be interesting to see how Stanford attacks a defense that switches as much as Brenda’s does. They went 10/25 from deep in their first matchup, but these are two different teams.

We're all expecting a defensive battle, right? :p
While I know this is in jest, I'm kind of hoping to see some defence. Looking forward to seeing who is matched up with Owusu and Miller from Stanford's end. Leery of a Brink-Reese match up due to Brink's tendency to be foul prone.

This should be a great match up. Both teams have Final Four caliber talent and Maryland seems to be hitting its stride. Brink vs. Reese will be a match up to watch if they are paired up. Brink is a beast but foul prone, and Reese is #9 in the country (#1 of all players in Sweet 16) in FTA at almost 7 per game. I think Reese gets the better of Brink, I don't think Cameron is as essential to the team's success though since they are deep inside with Belibi/Prechtel off the bench.

Miller is the x-factor for Maryland if they have a shot. She's struggled to find her rhythm this season but played her best basketball of the season this past weekend. If she's contributing at a high level, Maryland is lethal. If Owusu is playing well too, they can win.

Well said. Looking at the matchup, it's funny that Reese and Brink have that "modern big" mentality, but then you look at how well (or not well) they shoot. Brink's made 36% of her 3s at Stanford, while Reese has made 12%. But somehow Reese is a better foul shooter.

Reese needs to patent that scoop shot. It's D I F F E R E N T! I don't even know how she gets it in the basket. It's like GUMBY making a layup.

I wanna add that if Stanford wins all this year, next year they really have a chance to be 3 in a row with the 6’7 #1 recruit coming in. I hope not.

Stanford was beating Maryland by nearly 30 points earlier this year and people only mention Maryland was missing some players, well Wilson and Brink barely played too so think about that. Stanford in a route

I know foul trouble is the rub on Brink, but she has only 1 foul in 46 minutes in 2 games in the Tourney so far.

UMD entered that game with just 7 healthy players -- 2 are rarely used reserves, 1 is a freshman (Sellers) who didn't know how to defend yet, and Reese and Owusu both got their 3rd foul in the 2nd quarter. UMD's legs were shot after trying and failing to win a track meet vs. NCSU 2 days before. That had more of a snowball effect than Stanford not getting much from Wilson and Brink.

Stanford's still the deeper, more well rounded team. But if it's a blowout, it's because UMD got into foul trouble.

Have to remember this was Stanford's 3rd game in 3 days. Everyone else in that tournament only played 2 games? I get Maryland had some drawbacks but people ignore Stanford had some difficulties too.

Fair, but she's didn't face a player like Reese who loves to go hard to the basket. Knowing Maryland, they'll likely try to test Brink early to see if she maintains discipline.

At the same time, if Reese gets out of control, it could go the other way. Unfortunately, we have two more sleeps before we'll know for sure.

Reese took 13 shots against Stanford and she only played 15 minutes. That is really hard to believe and I don't think Maryland has a chance if they try to force feed it inside when Brink and Belibi are good defenders. And of those 13 shots she only made 2, so she kept missing and kept shooting which tells me Angel Reese has poor idea of shot selection. She fouled out in those 15 minutes so maybe she has trouble defending Stanford, its not just Stanford having trouble defending her. If Brink is in foul trouble they have Belibi, Prechtel, many options. If Reese is in foul trouble or forcing shot after shot over Brink's outstretched arms, Maryland is in trouble
