Does this mean Carolyn Peck is doing the game? Ugh, can’t we swap announcing teams with Georgia/Alabama who have Eric Frede and Tamika Catchings?

SECN+ game. Will likely have Auburn commentating team. SECN has Lyle and Peck doing LSU @ TAMU.

I predict pain. Wouldn't surprise me to see South Carolina win by almost 40.

SC will win in a blow out but Auburn has been playing much better lately. Those kids are actually still playing hard. Look at their last 4 games, far different type of effort and level of play compared to earlier in the season.

Still think the Auburn coach needs to go.

Auburn always a pain in the butt to play. Will be a good test for Destanni and Zia’s PG abilities. I predict a relatively close 1st half followed by 2nd half takeover resulting in a 20-25 point win.

Contest matching perhaps the top two posts in the SEC. Auburn is really good at taking the ball away, so the Gamecock guards will need to be diligent. Boston is blocking 1 more shot per game than the entire Auburn squad, and the Gamecock trio of Boston, Saxton, and Amihere are blocking 3 times as many shots. The top three most-fouling Tigers are their top 3 offensive players in Thompson, Scott-Grayson, and Jordan, so that could develop into an issue, as could Boston's foul status playing against Thompson.....

If this game should turn into a decisive win for South Carolina, it could prove useful to have a heavy rotation throughout the 2nd half of the reserves, if possible. Not looking past Auburn, but CT has to play two games this week to our one tonight including tomorrow's contest at Marquette, so which ever team that can keep the freshest legs for Monday's face-off could have an advantage.....

37-6 in the second quarter. I predicted a 40-point win; South Carolina may win by 50+!

Gamecocks extend their lead to 47-18 at the half. Cooke leads the way with a strong 17 pts on 6-9 shooting. The Gamecocks are shooting 58% to the Tigers' 20%, and out-rebounded them 27-16. In the bigs match-up, Boston has 6 pts on 3-3 shooting and 7 rebounds, with 1 foul. Thompson has 2 pts on 1-9 shooting with 5 boards, 2 steals, and 2 fouls. Romi Levy leads the Tigers with 6 pts off of 2 3-ptrs.....

Auburn comes out for the 3rd Period with renewed effort and out-scores South Carolina 21-18, but the Gamecocks still lead 65-39 after three quarters. Cooke went scoreless in the 3rd and still sits on 17 pts, but Boston scored 8 pts in the period and has 14 pts on 7-8 shooting, with 8 rebounds. Thompson with 3 pts on 1-10 with 7 rebounds and 3 steals - both Boston and Thompson have 3 fouls now. Auburn came out shooting 3-3 from the 3-pt line in the Qtr., and are now 6-12 for the game: they came into the game dead last in the SEC in 3-pt shooting at 25%....

Well.....

The starters for the Gamecocks only played 25 minutes each in an easy win, and I guess that was what Coach Staley was hoping for, with Connecticut next on the schedule.

But what I'm quite sure Staley was NOT looking for, was the pretty sloppy play from both the starters and then especially the reserves when they came in, for the 2nd half. This was led by Laeticia Amihere, who did lead the team with 9 rebounds, but seemed to have left her hands back home in Columbia: she was 2-9 from the field, 2-6 at the line, with 3 fouls - I think all were offensive fouls - and led the team with 5 turnovers in 22 minutes. As a result, the Auburn Tigers out-scored the Gamecocks 19-12 in the 4th Qtr., and 15-2 in the final 6:27 of the game. Still the Gamecocks escape with a 77-58 win.

Zia Cooke led the Gamecocks with her 17 1st-half pts, Boston scored 14 pts with 8 boards, Victaria Saxton added 11 pts, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, and Lele Grissett chipped in 10 pts and 4 rebounds. Destanni Henderson only scored 4 pts on 4 FG attempts, but led the team with 9 assists.

Auburn was led by Honesty Scott-Grayson with 15 pts and 4 rebounds. Leading Tiger scorer Unique Thompson added 10 pts on 4-13 shooting, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Thompson stayed in late in the game against the Gamecock reserves, scoring 7 pts on 3-3 FGs - all 7 pts scored in the final half of the 4th Quarter.
