Myth of the Big 12's Grant of rights

I never meant that post to be an apologia for the Big 12. Personally, I would love to see Texas in the Big 10. I've said that many times elsewhere. I'm not sure if I have said it here. I am jealous of Texas A&M. They broke free of the political bonds of Texas Tech & Baylor. They are in a much...

Myth of the Big 12's Grant of rights

You rang? Been a busy day for me. The guy who wrote that joke article is being destroyed in the comments section of his own page and around the internet. I asked an attorney I know to read the article and, as I tweeted, he said the author is a duck*ing idiot. Here is how the crux of the...

If ESPN wanted UConn in the B12, it could happen in 5 minutes. If ESPN tells Bowlsby that, if they add UConn, they will get a new TV deal that will increase the per team TV revenue by $2million, then it will happen. Does this make business sense for ESPN.....no, I don't see how it could.....BUT...

    boise not coming

This is being talked about all over Texas....I will be surprised if it doesn't happen.

    b12 gor

There is no credible reason to think that an escape clause or special provision exists on the GOR for Texas. Remember, Texas is politically hand-cuffed to Baylor & Tech, the Board loves the millions of $ coming from the LHN to academics and the decision makers at Texas like the Sugar Bowl...

There is a compelling reason why FSU stayed. Swofford had asked the ACC football schools for their commitment to the conference if he could secure ND. He delivered so they stayed. This is why Texas & the B12 were working so hard to land ND themselves.....it would have been the end of the ACC...

    Is UConn the new Houston?

One of my best friends graduated from U of H. One time, when driving to school, he took the exit off the freeway and got caught at a light. He saw one guy shoot another guy under a freeway overpass. Years after graduating, he met and married a girl who also went to U of H (they never met in...

    Is UConn the new Houston?

#1 Even when the football team has done well, no one in Houston cares about UofH football. #2 Playing games off-campus never worked out that well for UofH but the university is located in a terrifying neighborhood that makes the Sunni Triangle look like Disneyland. No one wants to go to...

Formal offers? No. Informal offers? Yes. There will never be a formal offer until a school submits a letter of application but FSU & several other ACC schools have been told their applications will be accepted.

Texas has 1 vote, just like every other school. Texas is not anti-expansion. Neither is the B12. The B12 will expand if/when it can attract schools that will increase revenue for everyone involved in the conference. Personally, I like the idea of UConn (& some other NE schools) to the B12. I...

Which university was turned down for Big 10 due to "academics" according to Wisc. AD Alvarez?

Just an FYI.....this thing about UConn joining & playing a couple of games every year right by NYC didn't come from a trusted source. It was just a fun idea I had read elsewhere and I liked it. I thought my post made it clear this wasn't something I expected to happen. The limitations of Twitter...

Which university was turned down for Big 10 due to "academics" according to Wisc. AD Alvarez?

The popular Nebraska version of this story is that they were kicked out of the AAU by Texas as payback for leaving the Big 12: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/693354-nebraska-sacked-was-expulsion-from-the-aau-reprisal-for-leaving-the-big-12...

Which university was turned down for Big 10 due to "academics" according to Wisc. AD Alvarez?

Chip Brown (I know, I know) of Orangebloods is where Frank got that info. Chip said FSU had reached out directly to the Big 10. Frank seemed to trust his info (which makes me think he had someone else privately confirm the info because I wouldn't trust Chip).
