If McNeeley is healthy, I'd let him run point, as I think he's our best ball handler outside of those three. Since he's on a restriction... probably mostly a combination of Ball and Karaban? Maybe some Stewart? It would get ugly quickly though in the face of any ball pressure.
Hopefully we have...
Our defense has been very strange so far this season. We're 11th in the country in 2-point % defense, and 349th in 3-point % defense. Certainly we need to tighten up our defense on screens (Xavier had some very clean looks when Reed was switched on to perimeter players, especially Maddox), but...
Cam Spencer finally listed as "Questionable" tonight for the Grizz (first time this season he hasn't been "Out" with his ankle injury). Hopefully he'll get a chance to make his debut soon.
Absolutely. The fact that we had only two transfers (a walk-on in Andre Johnson, and Roumoglou) speaks volumes about the buy-in that guys have in the program. Was fully expecting Ross and/or Singare to transfer, and maybe more.... it's just so easy nowadays with teams promising NIL and playing...
Eh.... depends if Kansas and Alabama are still undefeated. If Kansas continues winning at that point they'll have Ws over UNC and Duke. For Bama it would be Purdue, Houston, and Rutgers. It'll be more interesting to see where we are on December 15th (after Baylor, Texas, and Gonzaga).
But it...
Obviously it's not an apples-to-apples comparison given their roles and when they played, but Nowell looked so much more comfortable running the offense than Mahaney in their times on the court. I think he's just processing things better/faster. Would love to see him get some run during the...
I ran into him in Houston at the 2023 Final Four. Chatted with him for maybe 20-30 seconds (basically just talking about UConn and thanking him). Great player and great person.
My only real concern with 'Bama is whether they would survive a poor shooting night. That's what doomed them in 2022-23 against SDSU, and I just don't know if they have enough other weapons. Feels like some other teams (like Duke or Kansas) have more ways to score even if their shot isn't...
The NCAA put out a ton of short videos during the tournament, "[TEAM NAME] Confidential". Here are the UConn ones. I'm guessing this is an expansion of those? Maybe interspersing things they edited out originally?
Word is Ament is planning to sign during the late signing period (April 2025). If Bundalo wants a spot, I'm not inclined to turn him down on the slight chance we can get Ament. Ament looks like an amazing talent, but there's no reason to think he's interested in UConn besides a few kind words he...
I think he needs to shoot well this season if he wants to hold on to the starting spot long-term. Not at a high volume, but at least good enough to be a consistent threat. There's just a lot of talent behind him, and if he can't score efficiently someone else will step up.
None of these kids are making decisions for their future based on spite. They want to do what's best for them. If Braylon ends up at Indiana or UNC, it will be because he thought it was the best place for him.
Sounds like they expect him back before the season tips off against Sacred Heart on November 6th. But obviously at this point in the year there's no way he rushes back until completely healthy. Definitely don't want this to be a lingering thing.
