2026 Recruiting: Colben Landrew Official Visit (10/3)

I’m not sure there is such thing as a “must get” anymore with the portal. But he and Mingo sure would make it a nice class.

    OT: MVP- Judge or Raleigh?

Raleigh, for all the reasons already mentioned. Also, Judge is surrounded by a bunch of high-priced talent.

2026 Recruiting: Update on Qayden Samuels - Visiting This Weekend

IIRC, Samuels made some comments in an interview about UConn being hard, practices are hard, Hurley is a hard coach. And then saying he wanted to be given room to make mistakes and play through them. The resulting collective vibe here seemed to be that he might not be a good cultural fit...

OT: Rest In Peace Robert Redford

When I walk down the street I want people to say, there goes Roy Hobbs, the best there ever was.

    Hurley’s Deepest UConn Team

I thought Samson was very good at the high hedge in many regards. Maybe most importantly, that he was quick enough to get back onto his guy in the paint before anything bad could happen. His issue, however, was fouling while hedging. I don't know if anyone cares to look ( I sure don't) but it...

    2026 Recruiting: Adolph "Junior" County

"Ball in hand"? In England they call that a wanker. This term could rival "reach around bandit" for infamy.

    2026 Recruiting: Arafan Diane 7'1 300lbs

    No Providence, no credibility.

    Borges practice box score

I'm hoping to see Ball score in ways beyond just 3-pointers. It would probably help him if he could keep defenders honest by getting to the rim here and there.

OT: What was your first job as a teenager?

Babysitting in middle school and spanning into high school refereed soccer in the town league. Turned 16, got a driver’s license and delivered Domino’s.

Who will UConn target in recruiting this summer?

No Coombs-McDaniel, no Kemba step back if I’m recalling correctly.

What's the best sporting event/game you ever attended

Clemens 20 K’s David Cone perfect game John Lester no-hitter Was fortunate to be able to spend full weeks at The Masters several years in a row, 2005-2012. Superb event. Saw several aces and a double eagle but just a tremendous atmosphere in general.

    OT: Rule of 55 (Retirement)

The prevailing wisdom seems to be to delay taking it as long as you can if you have the ability to do so. The guaranteed raises are very attractive. If you take it early you are locking yourself into a reduced payout of almost 50% compared to waiting until 70. That's huge. Of course there are...

    Favorite Summertime Seafood Shack/Restaurant

The Marky's v Brown's debate. I slightly prefer Marky's but both are great.

    OT: Rule of 55 (Retirement)

Probably easier said than done however. The number of employers offering defined benefit programs has plummeted and continues to decline. Also, this approach would really limit the kind of work you could pursue and/or where you live. For example, teaching is one of the few occupations that...
