Its a stretch, but she was on the staff (not a coach, one of those weird analytics roles) of South Carolina one of the years they won a Natty. Still, I remember seeing her on the bench and I think in coaches huddles that season, at least at times.
Voted for Vic. He is getting older, but I think can engineer one more run. I agree that Gottlieb has a chance, of course, and Kara and Shea are the best of the young folks out there. Some of the others, not sure they will ever get there, like Vivian or Andy, among others. Good coaches, but...
I can't say that. It isn't impossible, even if not likely. There is a lot of money at OK State, just as Texas Tech gave a million to a softball player. Unlikely we will ever know exactly what her take is. I am sure it isn't small.
I am. Not just women's basketball. Out of proportion to what I perceive as their value. No one needs to agree with me.
As to the post you were replying to regarding academics, one does wonder, on the other hand it was mentioned a couple of times on broadcasts during the tourney that a...
To the post you were answering - she hasn't moved around a lot. She was doing ok at Arizona till Adia left and all the team portalled out. Went to Iowa State and most of that team has now abandoned ship. So that isn't a red flag.
That said, Jada was a smart cookie - she got frustrated with...
I was wrong for both semis as well. I like Dawn and have issues remaining from the PAC days with UCLA. So I'll root for South Carolina while thinking that the game is likely a toss-up.
This has been a pattern for several years - "let them play". At some point Dee Kantner was asked during the broadcast and said that there were clearly fouls that could have been called, but nothing "egregious" and it was consistent and even both ways.
Here's the thing - That style of...
Very impressed with Columbia. To clean up a little foggy language in your post - they were only home for the first game. They had two road victories - at North Dakota State and at California, and then won the last 2 on a neutral court, in Wichita.
Sure. Not overly common in women's basketball, because there is little upside. There may be contract issues (i.e. payouts), and almost certainly a dearth of candidates to come in mid-season, so the calculus has to be how the interim is likely to be an improvement.
Happens more often in...
I so kind of hate to post, but -
Montaya Dew has retired from basketball for medical reasons. The highest ranked recruit ever at Arizona, never able to realize her potential with on-going knee injuries that cost her her freshman and junior years. Very sad.
Only 2 players are returning -...
I had to root for Columbia, as Wisconsin was still under .500 after the 3 wins in the WBIT. I get that they were the only available B1G team, but . . .
I don't like either BYU or Kansas particularly. And I root for "smart" schools. So - Go Columbia tomorrow.
That's an over-simplification. All the attendance figures have been between 9000 and 11000+ and I don't think that's bad.
2 factors come into play - a lack of attendance by fans of the teams in the second game at the first game (they drift in) as well as vice versa.
Also, seats behind the...
You make certain good points, but in the end the interest in Women's Basketball remains, as has been said, for the fan's particular team.
If you look at the home attendance numbers you linked - after the first 6 or 7, they really are not that great. And women's fan bases do not (necessarily)...
