The pattern, unfortunately, is for P4 schools only play each other. The goal is to reduce out of conference games. Geno recently commented that coaches have less and less say in who they schedule. I hate what is going on, but recognize the SEC and BIG 10 have considered a break away. Some have...
My point regarding women’s basketball and realignment was in response to a poster saying conferences will not want us because we dominate. I was simply stating that will not be a factor in preventing us from joining a league.
I agree that if Geno ever retires, which I hope is never, a better...
Every UCONN fan should care. The big east is not sustainable long-term, unfortunately. I think you will see some more conference changes within the next five years. Hopefully we have a safe landing place in a decent conference.
UConn’s dominance in women’s basketball is not going to be a reason we’re excluded from a conference. That’s just not how conference realignment works.
Football drives the bus. Full stop. Conference decisions are based on football performance (far more than basketball), overall athletic...
Coaches have almost no say in these things. That being said, I think it will likely be the ACC for us eventually, but it may not be until they lose a number of key football teams to the SEC and/or the BIg 10.
I was behind everyone else so I was a little nervous for a while. But UCONN made some nice adjustments. Great win consider considering the fact one of our best players did not play.
UCONN has spoken to at least two different conferences in the past. I do not know why things have not worked out, but there should be a lot of changes in conferences within the next five years, so hopefully we find a safe landing spot. All UCONN can do is make their basketball, football and...
I agree that right now the big east is clearly our only option and football independence is the only available option. But long-term, obviously none of this is sustainable.
You’re both correct. Our current situation is great for basketball, but not for football. Our current situation is not sustainable if we want football to flourish. I would argue staying in the big east long-term is not a viable option regardless, especially as the top conferences (B10 & SEC)...
