As much as someone will complain about me saying it, this is for the best. The money requirements for UConn to be competitive in the Big 12 is far more than you'll get. The success you've had since returning home should tell you it's the best fit.
I think if the offer is full membership including football, UConn basically has to take it. If they need to provide themselves worthy by 2031 with investments and an upgraded program, I'd be very leery. Seven years in limbo is an eternity, and there may be better options available by then.
I think McNeeley will be more game ready on day one that either Castle or Hawkins. This will be a much stronger year for Big East freshman than last year.
I'm sure he was trying to help, but that's an absolute embarrassment to Georgetown. It means a local kid who, along with his father, loves the coach but doesn't see any hope in the near future to even include them in a group of 8 schools he's considering.

For UConn, I was at the Duke game in NJ to get to the Final Four. Felt bad for Chris Smith that day.
I only saw Mahaney play 4 times last year, against SD State, Xavier, Gonzaga in the WCC Tournament, and GCU in the NCAAs. He was terrific against Gonzaga, but SD State, Xavier, and GCU all had physical guards that bullied him into missing a ton of shots.

I think it's a good deal for UConn. Hurley could've pushed for more, but got enough to be happy.
