huh? You sound confused.
He said good teams win on the road. Literally every team in the country has been guess what, losing on the road. By his declaration there are no good teams. Catch up

Aside from another sub 40% shooting performance, I think the biggest issue was the lineup for a long stretch after Cole had to come out again early in the 2nd half. The only change made was Gaff for Cole. You can't expect to just be able pound it in to Sanogo with a lineup that has Gaff, Whaley, and Jackson against a top 25 team. Xavier was able to just have 3 guys sagging in the paint effectively triple teaming him on every touch and that's if we even had room to get a pass into him to begin with. You have to put the shooters we have out there, inconsistent or not, to give Sanogo space to work.

When are these “winnable” games actually going to become wins instead of aggravating losses?!?! this is getting so damn old already. Year 4 of Hurley. Thought we would have been there already.
If we're going to be a consistent top 15-type team, 4 seeds and better, buzz around the program, we need to be winning this sort of game like 60-70% of the time. Instead it's more like 30-40%, which leaves us in that sort of ho-hum 20-30 range, 6-7 seed

We lose to a top 25 AP team/top 30 kenpom team at their house and people are acting like we lost to Tulane at home.

Did we play well?
We played decently. Just not well enough to win on the road. Gaff, Cole, and Martin all had good games. Our offense without Sanogo for long stretches is just not going to be good this year. He has to stay out of foul trouble

Tough game. X shot lights out in the 2nd half, we didn't. Two technicals and Sonogos foul trouble didn't help, but X is a good team playing at home and they were more deserving than us tonight

Did we play well?
We did not, and still were in the game against a top 25 team with a minute to go. Now moral victories don't count for anything but there's a few positives to take away amongst all the negatives from tonight

Tough game. Clearly, the best strategy to beat is is to get us in foul trouble early. We run away with that game if Cole and Sanogo don’t sit as much as they had to. All the other BS doesn’t end up happening either. Technicals and such.

We hit one or two more shots of the many good looks we had, and we still could have escaped with an ugly win.

Nunge is a nice player. I’m dreaming of Donovan Clingan developing a game like him which with 3-4” more height will be near impossible for any defender to handle.

On the downside, this was a winnable game that we didn’t win. Lost every loose ball. Missed open 3’s. Gave up offensive boards. Got schooled on big man offense by Nunge and Fremantle. Bad fouls. Forced shots. Bad passes.

On the upside, a loss on the road to the 25th ranked team won’t kill us.

But we as a group - players and coaches - need to figure out how to win close games late.

Xavier was getting layups all second half, most teams make their layups.

It's not the one loss that's frustrating. It's that we rarely, if ever, win these toss up games. For the most part, we beat up on the bottom half of the Big East and generally lose close, frustrating games to good teams in conference. Marquette is the one exception. We shrink time and time again against good competition.

Just really think everyone needs to relax a touch. Several situations of wide open shots not dropping, bounces going Xavier’s way, and TWO technicals. Not a bad team not a bad place just didn’t turn out
BUT this has been the story of the season.

I think Hurley sat Cole and Sanogo to long during this game. It cost us. Had they been on the floor we probably go into the half with the lead
The 3 to end the first half was actually an enormous play that amped them up going into the locker room and carried into the second half. They quickly went up 7 and the game was basically played in that range the rest of the way.

We just handled the hottest team in the conference 2 days ago. Disappointing loss, sure. But chill out and go eat some ice cream. It ain’t that bad
