Has to have been top 10-15 all time, right? Rebounding machine (thanks, in no small part to say the least, to his gigantic butt), first to go pro directly out of high school, multiple time MVP, leader of the "fo fo fo" 1983 NBA champion 76ers.

Big loss in basketball history. RIP, Moses.

First DD and now this !

I can still hear the home announcer at the Spectrum:

". . . Moses Ma-LOOOOOOONNNNE!!!!"

Rebounding machine is right, especially on the offensive glass IIRC. He knew how to take up space !! Man, those early 80s Sixers teams were tough. RIP Moses.

Seems like we've been through this before about two weeks ago with the Darryl Dawkins thread. Joe Grabowski of the Philadelphia Warriors and Connie Simmons of the Knicks and Syracuse Nationals went directly to the NBA out of high school in the early 1950's. Both won NBA championships and both achieved all-star status at some time during their pro careers.

when Moses was in HS he would go in to the Petersburg prison and played against prisoners, one was named the milkman - because he killed a milkman.

Moses took 16 official visits in high school. Then the rules changed.

RIP Moses, had more moves in the paint than Kevin McHale,... one of the first outta HS (in the modern era when the Supreme Court ruled for it. Give these guys their props.)

I'd say around 13. Awesome player. A beast on the glass.

They didn't quite go fo, fo, fo, but I think they went fo, fi, fo, including a sweep of the Lakers in the Finals. They won the fourth quarter in just about every playoff game. That was a GREAT team.

Yep, Mo was a beast on the offensive glass, though some of the misses were his own. He was relentless.

Sad day for us basketball fans. Moses was just a beast in the paint. And sadly he is really under appreciated by basketball fans. RIP, Sir.

I remember the great battles in the early '80's between the Celtics and the Sixers. Johnny Most, the Celtic broadcaster who was the ultimate homer announcer would get so mad when Malone was aggressive in the paint but no whistles were blown that he called it he 11th Commandment - "Thou shalt not call any fouls on Moses!!"
