Wondering if someone can help me figure out what this movie is.

I do not have much detail. I just remember sitting on the floor waiting for it to end so I could watch something while my mom was watching it in the early 90s. At the end, this poor guy in glasses was beat to death by a bunch of local, native people (Native American looking) and his glasses falling off with super emotional music in the background, no talking that I recall as the scene occurred. I remember my mom thinking it was such a touching movie. I want to see it to see if I recall anything else upon watching it..I just kind of, struck me as a young kid somehow. But that is all I remember. Sorry, hope someone can help!
