Good shooting, 26-26 after the first quarter. Lindsay is still in shooting mode after the Gold Medal game. The highlight for me: Courtney Williams out-jumped everyone for an offensive rebound and scored on a short jumper. Then she hit another jumper.

Morgan starts the second quarter and works with Jonquel Jones for a bucket.

53-44, Connecticut at the half. The Minny defense is a step slow, as the Sun are shooting 63%. Courtney Williams is QUICK. That's something we already know from her days at USF.

The Sun beats the Lynx again. Conn. took a lead of about 12 in the second. Minnesota took the lead at the end of the third. Connecticut outplayed them in the 4th. Maya had only 8 points and got outplayed by Alyssa Thomas. Lindsay scored 16, but had 6 assists. The A:TO ratio for Minny was a poor 13:18. They shot 50% and lost.

Moriah had a good game but missed an open layup, with a little over a minute to play, which would've cut the deficit to 6.

Tina Charles had a very poor shooting night (4 for 19) but still got her 15th double-double of the season.

Meanwhile in Chicago, EDD seems to be readjusting smoothly to being the star of the show again. She has 26 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast, 2 blocks at the end of 3.

Just back from the game... Really good crowd (7400) and atmosphere at the Arena tonight. Fun was back at the Sun!
Balance (6 players in double figures), teamwork and hustle... the Sun were ready for this game and played with passion. I didn't know if we'd see rust or the positive effects of rest. The rest clearly helped these guys. Hard to single out a player as the star of the night but Courtney is making good progress. The trade from Phoenix was great for her and she's making an impression on the fans, too.

The "A-Train" (Alyssa Thomas) was rolling pretty good tonight and lead the team in scoring (7 for 10). I'll say it again for the millionth time if she could ever develop a serious mid-range game she would be a perennial All-Star.

Great welcome for the gold medalists, especially Maya, but then it was right down to business. If it weren't for a stretch in the middle of the game when the Sun got a bit out of synch with TOs and bad misses, letting the Lynx whittle down the big 15 point lead, this might have been a 10 point win. Really good fight down the stretch to hang on for the win.

Side Note: Jillian Allyene, the other player in the Bone trade, was watching the game from the courtside seats across the arena from us. Can't wait to see what she can do next year.

Connecticut with a bunch of young, hungry, rested players seems like the exact team Minnesota would not want to have first after the Olympics.

In Seattle, the Storm lead L.A. by 22-13 after one. The Sparks are, well, lacking spark. Nneka has 7; the other 4 starters combined for 0. L.A. missed all 4 FTAs. Sue is 3-4 from the arc.

Go Jasmine Thomas

Jasmine was great tonight...
In 32mins 4-9 shooting with 2-3 from the 3. A perfect 2-2 from the FT line. 6 assists. 3 rebounds and a steal. With all of that, I'll give her a pass on the 3 TOs. Also one of the nicest players I've met.
Very approachable and appreciative of the fan support. Very happy she came here.

EDIT: Should have mentioned her desperately needed basket to break an 80-80 tie... came off a screen, elevated - BINGO! Great clutch shot.

Seattle leads 55-44 after three. Stewie has 2 points; Candace has 5. Kaleena has 5. When Sue is not on the floor, things get sloppy--see the U.S.A. v. France as an example.

Geez! Stewie misses point blank again. Shooting 1-12. Meanwhile, the 35-year-old is looking good.

Seattle hangs on to win 79-72. Crystal had 16 and 10, and Sue and Jewell had 15 apiece. Jewell added 7 assists and 5 steals. Nneka sat early due to foul trouble, but finished strong with 28 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Candace finished with 7 points, 10 boards, and 6 assists. She was benched the last 6 minutes for not playing hard. The announcers noted her jogging multiple times. L.A. was FLAT. Surprisingly, both Minnesota and L.A. lost tonight.

This is all Geno's fault!

I don't like the Sparks except for Nneka, so I was pleased they got beat!
