Reason I ask: 7 teams in the AL are either in the WC or 1 game back, another is only 2 back. (Not so much a problem in the NL) With so many teams competing, is this bad for the trade deadline?
More competition is always good. Maybe they should consider pushing the trade deadline back a couple of weeks.
The new collective bargaining agreement may also have an effect. I think if you acquire a player who will be a free agent at the end of the year, you no longer get a compensatory draft pick if he leaves. Makes the price a bit higher for some trades.
