Who is Randy's coaching staff? Jan 12 is coming fast

Having a bunch of NFL coaches on staff would be a sellable advantage over our competition. They just have to have the right make up to be recruiters. The mechanics of recruiting aren't difficult if you have the right attitude about it. You just don't want guys who dread the slog of bounding around the country to HS after HS.

Appears that Tyler Bowen will be joining the UConn staff. In what capacity? I'm not sure, but he coaches OL right now at Fordham and worked with Edsall at Maryland.

He's also the OC, and he just posted a tweet a few minutes ago about getting future Rams on campus. If these guys are really coming to UConn, it really solidifies my theory that to be a college football coach you basically have to be a professional lier.

Or a politician.

Where did you get this info from?

.-.
Something tells me we're not getting that big name coaching staff everybody wants, but I think we get a lot of guys that are younger with a bunch of success in their coaching careers, mainly on the FCS level. If that wasn't the case we would've already heard something. Higher profile coaches simply aren't kept in the dark until the absolute last moment. It's leaked about a week before until then unofficially announced then made official a few days later. Edsall coaching tree is about to take off in Storrs once again. As long as we get back on track (hopefully starting this Fall. We have talent, contrary to many current thoughts on this board. We can win now with that schedule with what we have.) I have 0 problems with this approach.

Yup.

Just did a little Twitter digging, and the list of coaches based on player Twitter follows is starting to take shape on the defensive side:

John Wholley (multiple)
Darrell Perkins (tre ball follow after edsall follow)
Scott Lakatos (tre ball follow after edsall follow)
Keith Dudzinski (tre ball follow after edsall follow)

On the offensive side all I see is a random Peter rossomando follow from an OL committ, so maybe OL?

Will post more if I see them

Ps edsall started following Jason pinnock (BC CB committ) - go get him Randy!

FYI... Pinnock decommitted from BC last week. Long shot for UConn (Official visit to Pitt next week).

Sonny dykes was just fired by cal...Let's try to get him on board to run the husky raid for a year. If not do we just switch to the triple option and take the top 3 rushers we can get every year to be the qb, a back and b back?

I don't think it's such a long shot, Pinnock and Tyler Coyle were buddies at Windsor High.

Taj herring following him also

To add to the list, one of these guys was following the old dominion QB coach Ron whitcomb who is a Maine grad. there was also a recent follow from one of them of the army dline coach chad wilt.

Dudzinski started following a some CT HS football coaches also.

Not with pompous posts like that. Thanks for killing the mojo in one fell swoop.

I didn't say it was impossible, I said it was a long shot. Pitt and ND are both pursuing him hard and that's why he decommited from BC - not because Diaco got whacked. Most of the CT football kids follow each other from 7:7. All-Star teams, etc... it usually means very little other than face value.

UConn: NCAA assistant director of football development Ryan Steinberg will be the new Director Football Operations at UConn sources tell FootballScoop.

Got me... looks like a good grab.

Maryland football 'going to miss' Ryan Steinberg's work behind the scenes

>>Pete Volk, Testudo Times managing editor: Steinberg may be the second most-important recruiter on staff, behind Locksley. He runs the database and organizes much of it, and prospects often talk about their relationship with him (and speak very highly of it).<<

Did he personally tell you he decommitted because Pitt and ND coaches changed his mind on BC, and not because of the coaching changes at UCONN?

Come on man. We all know the answer is "no" but that doesn't make it any less a reasonable statement with Pitt and ND in the mix. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised though.

Pittsburgh Sports Now: Notre Dame Coming After Pitt Target?

From an ND site:

>>There could be a late addition to Notre Dame’s 2017 offer list. Jason Pinnock, a two-star Boston College cornerback commit out of Windsor (Conn.) High has been having contact with new Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko, and the two have been discussing the possibility of an offer. Pinnock, who stands at six feet tall and weighs in at 180 pounds, said Elko told him he will have more information for him when Elko gets to South Bend on Jan. 6. Meanwhile, Pinnock waits, hoping an offer is on the way. “Getting that offer would be huge for me because it is a well-respected school overall,” Pinnock said. “With football and academics.” Landing the offer would be the first step in Pinnock ending up Irish. After that, an official visit would take place, most likely on Jan. 27-29.:

>>“What makes me interested in Notre Dame enough to visit is encouragement from coaches and friends from their personal experience,” Pinnock explained. “And my father went to school at Indiana and said he really loved Notre Dame while he was being recruited.”“What sticks out about Notre Dame is their tradition of winning, the history, and academics,” Pinnock added. “Can't really get that experience at many universities.”<<

He decommitted from BC 5 days later. Like I said... not impossible he ends up @ UConn - just a long shot.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'd just suggest to his dad, that being able to attend all his sons home games and some away games, and have his son play along side kids he played with and against in high school, and play for a coach who gets the most out of his players and is known for sending quite a few 2 star recruits to the NFL, is tempting. I wish I had a dollar for every kid who signed with ND as a freshman and then signed with somebody else a year or two later.

Revised tonight:

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree; five years of experience (within the past seven years) at a FBS level academic institution as a full-time strength coach for the football program or at the NFL; strength coach certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) or a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS): and demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
8 years of strength and conditioning coaching experience at the FBS or NFL level.
Appointment Terms
This is an 11-month position subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

My guess is he has someone in mind that is coaching in the NFL right now for the strength and conditioning position

Yup - I'm totally guessing his first choice (bio below) received a counter offer and decided to stay where he was...

<xxxxxx is a registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association; a strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; he is certified as a Level 1 coach by the United States Weightlifting Association; and is also certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS).<

This was the Initial Minimum/Preferred Qualifications UConn posted before the revision: "Master’s degree; five years of experience (within the past seven years) at a FBS level academic institution as the head strength coach for the football program; a registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a strength coach certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA); and demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations." Preferred Qualifications:Ten years of strength and conditioning coaching experience at the FBS level; six years’ experience as the head football strength and conditioning coach at the FBS level; and certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS).
