Of the names not mentioned; (errrr, until the last three posts anyhow)

Gay was like # 5

RIP, Special K, Donyell all top 20.

Kemba, Brown, Hazelton, Oriakhi & Gilbert were all Burger Boys (and Corny)

Guys that were not top 20ish

Ray Ray, MSG, Meka, The Wrong Lamb, Bazz, AJ, Thabeet and everybody else

Caron Butler? He might have been 20ish

There is a difference between highest rated and most important in some cases in this discussion IMO. Chris Smith was incredibly important in terms of highly rated CT kids after him staying home to play. Donyell Marshall was incredibly important in terms of setting the stage for the likes of Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, and Khalid El Amin to follow him.

Corny Thompson was considered the best player coming out of high school the year he committed.
I don’t think they had the rating services back then or if they did they were not widely known . Pre internet , even pre PC and Cable was tiny.
Donnell was our first top National recruit . He was either 1or 2 in the entire state of Pennsylvania, national rankings in the early 1990’s were sketchy.
Rip was high but not quite as high as his PA predecessor.
Khalid three time POY was also pretty high I don’ remember him being top 10 coming out of Minnesota.
I doubt Caron was that highly regarded his bio doesn’t mention much about his HS rating. I recall he came with more baggage than the HMS Queen Mary.
Calhoun was one of the only name coaches willing to give him a shot .
He is one of the great examples of a life saved by sport.
Rudy was the top player in the DC area top 5 in the country as was Charlie V in NYC . Kemba Walker was 14 , 5th PG .
Andre was a Connecticut kid who was a walk on not a recruit . ( that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I'd explain Caron's ranking but last week in another thread when I tried to do that I had one poster who wanted to cut my head off for the explanation since he was adamant that Caron was the 47th ranked recruit in the 2000 class. So I won't do it again. :)

Caron went to prep school and some recruiting services didn't rank prep players against HS players.

Every service who included him on their rankings had him top 5.

Seems weird to believe anyone wouldn't understand it.

The top recruit ever is Drummond.
Wasn't he technically unranked because he re-classed to an earlier year? He was high in the next class. The crazy thing is, in today's NBA, Drummond probably wouldn't get drafted. 25% free-throw shooter, the 3 point shot.

Wasn't 'Yell a top five recruit. I thought he was #3 in his class.
Yeah I remember him being the top non-Fab Five recruit that season as per Blue Ribbon. But it’s a long time ago so I could be wrong.

Close. 8 and 9 from the 2 services that did rank 5th year high school players (at least the ones on here).

And please don't try to take my head off like that poster from last week. :)

He was in the same class as Jason Kidd and Glenn Big Dog Robinson. That class was stacked.
The Fab Five of Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, and Juwan Howard also. Cherokee Parks too (I kid, I kid!).

Was Jason Kidd in that class? Think he was the next year.
