While we wait for Friday's game against MSU, here are some interesting stats from the season so far.

1. Both Kia and Saniya have made more baskets from beyond the 3 point arc, than inside it. Kia has 71 threes and 65 two pointers. Saniya has 49 threes and 45 from inside. Katie Lou has 116 threes, but 138 regular baskets.
2. With 2 more steals, 2 more blocks and 12 additional assists, Gabby will have 50 blocks, 100 steals, 200 assists to go with her current 301 rebounds and 507 points. ;)
3. Saniya's assist to turnover ratio is 3.375 (135 vs 40).
4. Napheesa is making 42.9% of her three point attempts. Lou is making 41.9%.
5. Opponents of UConn have 652 turnovers and only 376 assists. (0.57 ratio)
6. Katie Lou has 115 defensive rebounds, 116 threes and 117 assists.
7. UConn's team assist to turnover ratio is 1.99065 (852 to 428).
8. Crystal has made 15 free throws. So has Kyla. But, Crystal also has 113 assists and a blocked shot, Kyla doesn't have a blocked shot. :p
9. Napheesa, Kia and Saniya average 30.0, 30.4 and 30.6 minutes per game. Katie Lou is at 31.7 per game. Gabby is lowest with 28.9 per game.
10. UConn has more assists (852) than opponents have baskets (775) & UConn has more made free throws (483) than opponents scored points in the 1st quarter of every game combined (417).
11. Despite trying only 7 more threes than the opponents (731 vs 724), UConn has made 95 more baskets from beyond the arc. For the season, UConn makes 40.4% vs 27.6% for the bad guys.
12. Tierney Lawlor has never missed a practice, much less a game. :)

Thanks for these extraordinarily interesting facts. I surely don't know how you manage to compile or find out these things. Impressive, to say the least. By the way, regarding Gabby playing a couple of minutes less a game on average, than the other starters, it's because in the early part of the season her uncontrolled aggressiveness on defense got her in early foul trouble and she needed to park herself on the bench for extended periods of time. That really distorted her MPG average a great deal.

Katie Lou has 116 threes,
Closing in on KML's single season record of 121.

10. UConn has more assists (852) than opponents have baskets (775)
Set the new single season record. (old record was 850 by 2013/2014 team)

But, Crystal also has 113 assists
Makes 5 players with over 100 assists (Williams, Chong, Nurse, KLS and Dangerfield). I think, only the 2nd time this has happened. Can't remember the other year though??

And has been rewarded with a (so far) 152-1 record! And on top of the record books regardless what happens! Not bad for a girl from the valley that had a dream to be at Connecticut. She will remain as beloved a player as they come from this state.

And has been rewarded with a (so far) 152-1 record! And on top of the record books regardless what happens! Not bad for a girl from the valley that had a dream to be at Connecticut. She will remain as beloved a player as they come from this state.

From her early beginnings as a tough young player on the Armory court in Ansonia, Tierney has always played basketball with the same grit and heart we see on display every time she wears the UCONN uniform. And while her minutes for the Huskies have been limited, what she has brought to the team, her fans, her community and her family over the last four years is something no stat sheet could ever capture.

Although she initially opted not to play basketball at the collegiate level, her high school career certainly warranted the interest she received from several DII schools. While at AHS she compiled admirable stats and recognitions for her skilled play and academic prowess. T was a four-year varsity starter in all 92 games, as well as a three-year captain, amassing 901 career points, 739 rebounds and close to 200 assists while shooting 70% from the free throw line. She helped lead her team to four consecutive Naugatuck Valley League and Class M Quarterfinal State Tournament appearances.

A winner on the court and in the classroom, T was a CAPT Scholar and recipient of the Yale University outstanding high school student award, graduated third in her class with an advanced placement course schedule, received the Connecticut Association of Schools CIAC Scholar Athlete Award, was appointed to the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team, earned the New Haven Tap-Off Club Scholar Athlete Award, as well as a spot on The Waterbury Republican Winter All Academic Team. She was also named a three-time NVL All Brass Division player, a Connecticut Post Super 15 All Star Girls’ Basketball Team appointee, received New Haven Register All-State honorable mention and was named Female Athlete of the Week multiple times by the Connecticut Post, New Haven Register and Republican American newspapers.

With a successful high school career neatly tucked away in the memory books and the focus now shifted solely to academics, few could have forecasted the fairy tale that would soon unfold. When the now infamous "Stewie walk-on tweet" hit social media on April 15, 2013, the long-imagined pipe dream suddenly billowed with possibility. The rest, as they say, is history.

It's no surprise to those who know her best that Tierney has continued her commitment to giving 100%, both academically and athletically. Expect to see that same level of commitment and effort in the field as she forges ahead with her farming career once the Dance in Dallas is done. Thank you Tierney for all you have brought to the UCONN program during your four years.
