We shoot about 20 a game. Our opponents are closer to 25 a game. We are 259th in three's attempted per game. That's pretty far down the list. We have some problems but shooting too many threes is not one of them.

Its not that we don't score enough, its that the other team scores more.

It's both.

We're 159th in 3PA per field goal attempt (which is a better stat since it is a possession rate not a game rate), which is slightly above average, not "far down the list" at all.

But we're 325th at making 3's at 29.2%. That's worse. That equals .876 points per shot. Which means we should be shooting far less, since we make 47.7% on our 2s and that's 0.954 points per shot. (For the record, both these numbers are bad).

Purvis and Jackson are the biggest culprits to this point. Both have high usage and take a lot of shots, and both have been shooting below 30%. Purvis in particular has been the biggest issue. Hard to call it a slump after 11 games.

Without Adams this team truly is up a creek without a paddle. Not to be doom and gloom, but that's just a fact. Adams is all that separates us from being a bottom dweller in the AAC this year, and competing for a title. If Enoch, Facey, and Durham can continue to emerge throughout the conference season, we have a shot in Hartford.

So we are all agreed. We don't shoot too many 3's as long as we make a higher percentage of them, and should we make a lower percent then we should take less. We also might want to consider only giving those players the most minutes who are going to play better. Seriously, a 6 % increase in 3's to 35% prob changes the way our season looks at this point.

I don't care about the number of attempts, but the players on this team are the type that need to attempt 3s in ryhtym. UConn forces too many up.

Our offense runs so much better when the bigs get the ball and the defense is forced to respect all 5 players, rather than honing in on the perimeter. We're going to need Facey to play like monster today.

That would be an extra 3 points per game which might have swung the Northeastern, Ohio State, and Auburn games. 8-3 vs 5-6.

Only Jalen Adams development will alleviate this imbalance. He can get into the paint ... and he can correctly place passes into Enoch, Facey and Brimah that they can make quality moves to score. Vital needs experience and will be fine in time. Without Adams in the game ... Auburn ... the house is on fire.

I disagree with the premise. We do shoot too many threes. When you can't shoot, shooting the three is just like a turnover. We have literally shot the ball out of bounds. Take Taliek Brown, he went from liability to champion. How? As a junior he shot 1-17 from three, senior year he went 1-5. By not taking as many 3's. this team will improve as well.
