We're 2 short months in but here's what I'm seeing thus far. (2-3 was tough for me but so far I give nod to Lou)
1. Ionescu 21ppg, 7.8reb, 7.9ast, 47%FG, 55% 3pt, 89% FT (on what will be a top 5 Oregon team)
2. Lou 20.1ppg, 7.5reb, 3.9ast, 45% FG, 39% 3pt, 86% FT
3. Pheesa 18.9ppg, 10.9reb, 3.6ast, 59% FG, 64% FT (2-11 from 3)
4. Arike 22.9ppg, 6.4reb, 3.7ast, 46% FG, 27.5% 3pt, 74%FT
5. Anigwe 23.6ppg, 13.7reb, 0.7ast, 54%FG, 54% 3pt (limited attempts), 61%FT

I have Durr, Gustafson & McCowan outside top 5 for now.

Good stab at it. I don't know if Cal will stay relevant enough for Anigwe to be among the leaders. Her numbers aren't superior enough cover for being on a team that will probably be outside the top 15 once conference play gets going.

Baylor's front court duo is conspicuously missing but I don't think they've earned it. Maybe Alanna Smith as a really really long shot (not to win it, but at least being taken under consideration) if Stanford can stay highly ranked and she keeps putting up the kind of numbers she has so far?

I agree I don’t think Anigwe will hang around because of their team, which has also caused the inflated numbers but she has deserved the recognition so far.

Only players I would have on the POY list (as of today) are Sabrina, Pheesa, and Alana Smith.

Ionescu looked really good in all aspects (including free throw shooting!) against Mississippi State a couple of nights ago. Right now I'd have to put her as the favorite for the Nancy Lieberman.

They do not, I agree. I hope Kalani's dad puts some fire under her while they are on break!

At this point, they'd have to give it to Ionescu, unless they want to give it to Lou as a kind of "Lifetime Achievement Award".

The 3 Point percentage and free throw percentage for Arike stick out. I think the 3 pt percentage will go up. But there is no reason why Her FT Percentage shouldn’t be higher and usually that’s where She’s really good is at the FT line. So I hope as the season goes on that percentage goes up.

She's actually shooting 1% higher than her career average from the FT line so really good at that, she is not. Collier is much more of an anomaly right now from the stripe, I don't see her shooting 64% for the season.

Cierra Dillard 25.8 ppg (leads nation), 5.8 rpg, 5 apg
Megan Gustafson 24.7 ppg (2nd in nation), 12.3 rpg, 1.8 bpg
Numbers inflated because of lack of talent around them. Dillard is also playing almost a full quarter more than Collier or Lou & is on an unranked team. Won't even be an AA in my honest opinion. Gustafson is very good but eye test is another part of this. I believe she will be an AA but there's another level when you talk about best in the Country.

I thought it was higher. Jackie isn’t as good at the line as I thought She was career 79% at the line. Marina is a career 83% at the line. That’s where I thought Arike more so was.

Buffalo went to the Sweet 16 last season, so if Dillard has a lack of talent around her, she must be a really good player to carry her team that far despite defenses being able to key in on her.

Evina Westbrook is having a great season that deserves consideration. 18 pts. / 5 assists (50% fg / 56% 3fg)

Evina Westbrook having breakout season for No. 9 Tennessee

Over her last four games, Westbrook has averaged 25.3 points and 5.8 assists for the ninth-ranked Lady Vols (8-1), who may fall out of the top 10 following their 95-85 loss Tuesday to No. 8 Stanford.

I hope they don’t just pick a player because of what team they’re on. The POY should be one that has well rounded stats and makes their team better (I know it’s not an MVP award but it is still should represent a team player since it’s a team sport). Anigwe has been vital for this Cal team and her assist numbers might be better if she had teammates that could score. Pheesa to me seems like the best option of these players because she makes her team better even beyond what the stats show. I would say Ionescu, but whenever I watch her it’s like she’s playing to get a triple double rather than make smart passes or take good shots. Still, those numbers don’t lie and I’d have to say that Oregon wouldn’t be where they are without her.

Ionescu just put up her 13th career triple double; 17 pts, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. She came close to a triple double in the first half. That is now the NCAA record for women or men.

What a massive improvement in her shooting percentages. Last year she was 39% fg and 32% 3fg. Holly said that she spent the summer completely rebuilding her shot, and I'll be darned if she didn't.

Only two on my list, Ionescu and Pheesa.

I give the edge to Ionescu. She is very Diana Taurasi like.

I think it's Sabrina's to lose. Pheesa and Lou will likely both garner votes, leading to reduced votes for each.

But she played33 minutes, more than anyone else on the team. Kelly seems to be giving her PT to go after records.

Ionescu is being touted by ESPN as the NPOY. Same thing ESPN did with Wilson last year. Kelly is going to give her all the minutes she needs.

Lou & Pheesa are going to split votes.

Wilson was "touted" by ESPN correct, but it was very well deserved.
