That's not a talent problem. It's a soft mentality problem on D. It also is lackk of size problem with DBs that wear down.

The most frustrating thing is the lack of recognition of the plays coming at them. UVA (and every opponent) has 4-5 yd gains in their pockets before we even react. When they do reach the ball in the back field or at the line they miss the tackle badly. Then there is the 8yd pitch and catches to WR with no UConn player even in the frame. I'm not kidding about the chairs. If you play press coverage with a chair there is at least a small chance the offensive player will trip over it. Out D is actively vacating the space.

BS inclination will always be to run if he has an option to do so. He made some good runs but it's never sustainable due to turnovers and receivers quitting on their routes because they seldom see the ball. The overall problem is definitely lack of talent. Swain is one bright spot.

The fumble inside the five. That is almost always a game killer. It's how we beat West Virginia.
Interestingly, a fumble inside the 5-yard line (same end zone) by Hernandez (playing WR) was a killer at Virginia ten years ago.

Shoemate pretty much never saw the field again after his.

UVA has more talent, more speed and more depth on both sides of the ball. This score should not be a surprise to anyone. Any time we play teams from the big boy P5 conferences we're going to be in trouble. To be quite honest, with our current talent, we would be a lower level Team in the MAC.

MAC? Try lower tier FCS. Its who we barely beat and have lost to in the past few years. The program has zero speed. They can't get to the QB they can't keep up with WR's. RB's get stuffed at the Line... can't get the edge. As far as offense.... when Bryan Sheriffs is the best option on the field STILL this program has SERIOUS SERIOUS talent issues.

Difference is that a fumble inside the 5 should be, and in those cases was the difference in a close game.

Now it leads to us getting blown out

Newsome is our best offensive weapon and one of the only true FBS talent players and he barely touches the ball.

Remember that silver lining thread about having an extra week off somehow helping us? It didn't and we needed to work out a lot of things early in the season that can only be diagnosed in game situations. The mistakes aren't entirely unexpected but the turnovers were totally avoidable. The week off was a big downer for a team trying to recover from Diaco-ball.

Pujals cannot throw at all so far vs New Hampshire, as an aside.

This is the worst secondary we have had since joining the FBS.

Yes, this is rather puzzling. Are we to believe Lashlee can't find a way to get him the ball in space?

Unfortunately, Newsome + poopy Oline play = -2 yards every play.

OSU up 49-7 still in 2nd. We aren't the worst defense in CFB, but we are close.

New Hampshire is really, really good. They may be final 4 (and I'm not sure we'd beat them).

Unless you plan on playing Sherriffs at cornerback, changing QB's gets you nothing. Averaging 2 ypc rushing and no one getting open isn't going to change. The TO's cost us 14 points but we are moving the ball. Pindell didn't show that. Let's start rotating defenders starting with Bell.

Also shifting when he has the ball because he wants to get a nice espn top play juke and losing yards in the process doesn't help

Will be interesting to see how much V pours it on and can we be functional at all.

Not to be a downer. But why are we still focused on football here? It's actually hurting everything else here. We cannot be the worst team in D1. We can't. I'm happy they are going for it all the time today inb4th down but this is the most embarrassing product we have shown in a generation. VA is not even ranked and they look like bama 2012 or USC 04.
Go back to basketball board.
