Not UConn related, but can't remember ever seeing a jump like Xaiver Booker before. Rose 87 spots to #4

Collier at number 10 and ranked as the top GA player and I believe Castle is just as good now and has more upside. :)

How many can we get? I’m assuming a wing and big to go with Castle. I really like Peja’s son, Griffiths, and Coleman

We currently have 4 open scholarships, but 3 are open for this year as well with 2 likely to be filled. So it's looking like a minimum of 2 more open and a max of 4 (if those last spots are filled by grad transfers). With the caveat that Newton and Alleyne have the option for a Covid year to come back and reduce those scholarship numbers by 1

This article explains Griffiths' lower than expected ranking. Scotty Middleton, Andre Stokakovic, Isaiah Coleman and Reid Ducharme also mentioned. It's interesting that UConn is or has been linked to 5 of the 8 recruits in this article.

Gavin Griffiths missed the month of April with an eye injury and because of it he remains farther below the national radar than he otherwise would have been. The 6-foot-7 forward is one of the truly elite shot-makers in the class. He’s as close to automatic when in rhythm from behind the three-point line as anyone I’ve seen, but more than that, he’s also evolved into a tough shot-maker who can bury contested looks off the dribble or with a hand in his face. Combine that with his good positional size, he should be poised to make a big jump during the summer.

so if hurley brings in 2 more guys this summer that arent grad transfers, and newton/alleyne both use their covid year, and no one else goes pro or transfers out, then castle would be our only '23 recruit.

that certainly wouldnt be the big '23 class we were hoping for lol, but unless the 2 guys TBD are legit reclasses i could see them both hitting the portal next summer to make room. having said that, i really dont think hurley wants to use the portal as an excuse to bring guys in for 1 year. this is going to be interesting.

Maybe even worse.... barf

if a kid willfully chooses Rutgers or Providence over UConn they're either getting a bag of cash or they don't want to compete in order to compete, and i pass on those types in favor of a kid willing to compete for their spot. It is an honor to play Connecticut basketball.

When this happened with Cliff I wrote it off as a one time thing/great job making the kid feel wanted by that staff. Losing an instate kid to them that we recruited hard is gonna sting even harder.

I thought by offseason #5 with Hurley we'd stop freaking out every May about all the recruits we're "missing" out on, but I should really know better. Recruiting is one thing you don't need to worry about with this staff

From what I'm gathering this isn't him choosing anyone over UConn--it's us not pursuing him.

Any rumored reasons for that? Would be a sharp change of course if true.

He just posted to his page a couple of pics in Rutgers shirt with tag of "not committed". I wouldn't worry just yet.

Griffiths has been cb'd to Rutgers. That would be a kick in the basketballs to lose him to Rutgers. Edit: I should read the whole thread before commenting.

Griffiths is deciding June 1st and it will be Rutgers? I'm confused and bummed out by this.
