Morton misses a home run by a foot, and a weird call sees Tamarro called out on a questionable call. This game has been frustrating to say the least.

Yeah, sounds like Tammaro was called out running to 1B on interference, but it didn't sound like Chris Jones thought it was the correct call.

Top 6th, scoreless inning for the UConn offense. No score. Huber now has 2 walks and a single on the night.

Too many fly balls tonight, not making their fielders work.

Bottom 6th, Sears strikes out the first batter, then comes out of the game. Brady Afthim coming in to pitch. Solid outing for Sears.

Afthim gives up a 2 out double, but the base runner is out trying to steal 3B on an odd play to end the inning. No score.

Top 7th, Padilla with a leadoff solo homer, 1-0 UConn.

With 1 out, Hyde ends up at 2B on a throwing error by the pitcher. Tammaro with a single to put runners on the corners with 1 out. Pitching change, UConn finally into the SDSU bullpen.

Top 7th, with 1 out Tammaro steals 2B to put 2 runners in scoring position. SDSU intentionally walks the slumping David Smith to load the bases with 1 out. Huber reaches on a 2 out infield error to bring in a run. 2-0 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

A few fielding miscues by SDSU that inning.

Top 8th, freshman Maddix Dalena pinch hits for Broadhurst and comes up with a leadoff single. Freshman Drew Kron pinch runs for Dalena. A double play takes care of the baserunner. 2-0 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Bottom 8th, Zach Fogell coming in to pitch for UConn.

Bottom 8th, a lead off infield single followed by a fly out. With 1 out, Fogell coming out, Justin Willis coming in to pitch.

Willis with a strikeout followed by a double to put 2 runners in scoring position with 2 outs. A 3 run homer gives SDSU a 3-2 lead.

Willis is only throwing one pitch. A slider every time. I don't understand why you don't mix in a fastball every now and then. Especially when you are struggling with command of it. Seems to me they are sitting on it.

Bottom 8th, SDSU picks up another run after a couple more singles sandwiched around a wild pitch. 4-2 SDSU. Willis coming out. Will Nowak takes the mound for UConn with a runner at 1B and 2 outs.

Nowak gets a strikeout to end the inning. 4-2 SDSU.

Top 9th, UConn offense goes down in order. SDSU wins 4-2.

Niko Brini and Ryan Daniels were used as pinch hitters that inning.

Ouch. More runs in earlier innings would have helped but the pitchers before Willis all did their jobs. Win the next two.

The offense had been doing well the last several games, but not tonight. As Coach Penders says, got to have separation earlier in the game. Praise for the pitchers who were used before Justin Willis tonight, those guys did their job.

Yeah, a lot of undeserved sharing of the blame. Sears and Afthim were great and the offense did enough. Our closer didn’t come through. Case closed. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again. I’m not sure Willis blew a save all last year.
