Heard that on the post game show on the way home. Not sure how that is possible. The end zone bar removed seats, as did the increased disability areas around the top of several 100 level sections which removed a row or 2 in each of those sections. Are they counting people in the sportsbook as being in attendance even if they don't have a ticket to the game?
Agree, I don't know how that's possible when the XL Center used to seat almost 16,300 people (16,294 is stuck in my head) before the addition of the sports book area.
agreed, 15684 was official attendance. I suspect the record claimed was meant for post-renovation crowds.
I received two free tickets to one of the buy games a few years ago in exchange for purchasing two season tickets. Not on the level of what you're asking, but the athletic department has definitely leveraged basketball to help football
Only morons want to stop playing at XL. Place gets filled and rowdy and offers a large capacity venue that the rest of the state can get to easier than Storrs. A night downtown is fun. Go get some food, hit a bar, and pack the XL.
There's a discussion right now on Twitter (including AD Dave) surrounding a 5 second video (which lacks context) regarding the campus parking "crisis." Complaining about parking is how we know the fanbase is back.
