In first appearance since being reinstated, Seth Romero picks up loss in 3-2 setback to Sam Houston State. Allowed 1 run, 4 hits in 2.1 IP

Not sure if we see him as a starter this weekend or not.

I can't wait for this series. I expect to see some ECU/Tulane type fireworks. Especially if Romero starts.

Cate needs to set the tone (in a good way) for the series.

Especially since Houston is pitching their staff backwards. Cate vs their #3, Feole vs their #2 and Wills vs. TBA (which I assume will be Romero, their #1). UConn needs to put together a complete series. They need to pitch, hit, field and run to the best of their abilities this weekend. This is not a team we can give away outs to. It's a huge series for AAC seeding as well as NCAA playoff hopes

Not starting well. First pitch from Tim Cate turns into a Houston home run.

Cate strikes out 3 batters in the 1st inning, but also allows 3 runs. 3-0 Houston.

RBI ground out by Yahn makes it 5-1 Houston in the 6th.

Moriarty probably earns another start @ 2B with an rbi double that scores Winkel in the 7th.

Wow. What a come back. Maybe Penders should give Lefevre more at bats, you know the guy that is hitting .280 on the year and gets hits in every big situation he's put in. I'd bet he can play first just as good as Winkel.

And to think, I was about to go on another pinch running rant. Penders pinch ran for both Susi and Gnesda in the 8th. As it always seems to happen, the pinch runners didn't score, and Susi was out of the game. I was ready to moan about it when LeFevre came up in the 9th, but LeFevre got the big hit.

Winkel strikes out to end the top of the 9th. He struck out to end another Husky threat earlier in the game as well. Game tied at 5 with Houston coming to bat.
