Dr. Susan Herbst, President of the University of Connecticut, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Athletic Conference. Herbst will serve a two-year term through the end of the 2016-17 academic year.

Congrats ...I think.

(aah, wouldn't that be Chairwoman or Chairperson?)

I'm with you Java. Congrats, sort of. Here's hoping she is able to get us the heck out very soon.

Having said that, I believe the conference as it relates to football is moving towards respectability. The men's hoops portion of the conference should finally get the recognition it deserves (they were hosed with NCAA bids the past 2 years). But the women's conference will remain 1 super team, and a bunch of "meh" teams. Don't get me wrong - the women's teams are slowly getting better, but still, I want out asap...

Two observations...

1) The AAC must be desperate to keep UConn in the conference.

2) UConn will be in the AAC for some time to come.
