A quick look at the roster next year. Key, Jackson, Horston, Suarez, Puckett, Pissott, Powell, and Walker. That's a really talented roster.

Big get for Tennessee. Reminds me of when Diamond Deshields transferred in, although Diamond's presence likely caused more harm than good at Tennessee. Hopefully Jackson blends in well. Having her in the lineup takes off pressure from Horston having to do so much.

I'm guessing Burrell goes pro since Jackson fills a similar role that Rae does, but I think it's in Rae's best interest to come back. She's been behind the curve all year due to injury, so while I think she's likely a 1st round draft pick, I'm not sure she makes a team this year. If she gets healthy and comes back one more year, she'll have a chance to be a standout again and improve her draft stock. It's a loaded draft next year but based on her 2020-21 play, I think she could still be a very high pick.

I'm reviewing this list for all the PGs and 3-point specialists because I feel like that's what Dawn will have her eyes on in the portal. lol

I would be happy if I was Tennessee, she is a good player.

But you do have a point, plugging in big talents does not always equate to success or being better. Chemistry is a real thing and managing that is key. Florida was better off without L. Briggs, A&M was much better following the graduation of Carter. There are countless examples of it.

I would not be shocked to see better chemistry/team performance from Kentucky next year after Howard goes pro.

What do you mean by mitigate? Do you mean coaches being investigated/reviewed due to the number of transfers leaving?
I mean that making the transfer process easier makes it less likely that abused players would feel like they had no options available to them. Of course, as we all know, entering the transfer portal is not a guarantee that someone will pick you up.

To your point, however, I suspect that if a program was losing players wholesale on a consistent basis, eventually either the AD is going to act, or quality players will simply discount it as a choice, eventually forcing the AD to act. I view that as secondary, however.

I know "decommitted" is the word being used, but you can't decommit after you signed an LOI. You have to be released from your LOI before you can enter the transfer portal and then have contact with other coaches/schools. Perhaps she's already done that.

She might not understand that you can only "decommit" if you are verbally committed. If you signed an LOI with a school, you now need for that school to give you a full release from your signed LOI before you enter your name into the transfer portal and begin communicating with other schools.

It's not a big deal. Bottom line is that she is going to evaluate her options.

I thought Texas would be better team for Jackson but Jackson would not be better player for Texas. Texas is a physical team without a volume shooter and Jackson is a volume shooter who is not nearly as physical as current Texas players. I believe the player in the portal who fits with Texas is Blackwell.

Texas has three star quality players with good chemistry next season in Matharu, A Moore, and Harmon. Can’t mess with that. Anyone who comes on board has to be a good chemistry fit.
