A team with a relatively high number of deft passers is a happy team. 100 assists is a good season result for any player. four players on one team with 100 assists is excellent. Five players with 100 is phenomenal.
The punchline: it's still relatively early, but through 11 games, five UConn players are on pace for 100 assists.
If, if, IF UConn plays 39 games this season, there will have been 3.55 times as many games played as have been played already. Multiply 3.55 by the following assist totals, and you'll see which five players are on pace for 100.
The players (current assist total in parentheses):
Breanna Stewart (29)
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (30)
Morgan Tuck (31)
Kia Nurse (42)
Moriah Jefferson (51)
That's right: if UConn plays a full 39-game season, and if the above-referenced players meet or exceed their current pace, ALL FIVE STARTERS will have 100 assists for the season.
By the way, these are the top five scorers for the Huskies (all averaging double figures). And as I list them in ascending order of total assists for the season thus far, it's in descending order of PPG.
Now, *that's* teamwork!!!
