Whoa - that was unpleasant. And the "twitter war" is beyond unfortunate.

Impressed by 21 -- how she tries to keep her teammates focused on the game, not the stupidity that was surrounding them....

I don't see anything in that clip that involves Skylar Diggins. While the blindside punch by the player in green should result in a technical and an ejection at a minimum, it should be noted that the girl in the white uniform shoved her away immediately prior to that happening. Boorish behavior on both their parts. I did get the sense that the game and the crowd was already getting out of control to which I blame the officials and the school authorities.

There's nothing in the clip involving Skylar, but if you read the article you can see that she was yelling things at the refs, the other teams, etc and is now involved in some sort of Twitter war with the opponents fans. Classy.

I will never understand why people in the public eye or those that are famous get on twitter. Nothing good ever seems to come of it.

But, but, but....how else will Skylar's millions of fans keep up with her doings? She knows her fans just have to know every thing she does and thinks...

Some additional details from WNDU's website:

1) The fouled O-D player's father, Terry Minix, is O-D's head coach. The Washington head coach is Mo Scott, Skylar's stepfather. According to WNDU, Terry Minix and an assistant got into heated conversations with Scott, and Scott says his stepdaughter was upset at how aggressive the O-D coaches got with him.

2) "According to a game administrator, Diggins' conduct was 'less than exemplary when she yelled some vulgar remarks towards some of the OD coaches, but she was not involved in the incident.'" (WNDU did not identify the administrator.)

3) Scott said that Diggins was not ejected but that, when she did leave, he asked the school security to escort her out before the entire event. "I think people have made it more than what really happened when it comes to Skylar," Scott said. "She was not put out of the game. She did not yell at any players."

Skylar is a good ballplayer and she is hot. Sadly, she is also a moron if this stuff is true.

Time for the Diggins apologists to chime in.
There is no larger Diggins detractor than me, but a) the precipitating incident didn't involve Skylar at all, and b) if she behaved badly during or after it, she didn't express herself in any way that was inciting a riot or anything. I guess there's also point c) to be made, namely the worst thing that happened on Twitter was being unapologetic for something that wasn't the end of the world behavior-wise.

Honestly, I love me some Geno Auriemma, but even he's responded to tweets/letters/emails worse than has Skylar.

Looked to me that Minx was the instigator with that push. Then she stays on the floor after the retaliation. If she can't take it she should keep her hands to herself. Lambeer was like her, instigating with cheap shoves and then acting the innocent when the other player refused to take her antics.

In this age of everyone walking around with a video camera in their pockets you would think someone would have caught Diggins' "comments" to the opposing team.

Take this for what it's worth, because I'm not naming names...

This is the kind of anonymous source I always look for when making judgments about other folks.....

Are you nuts? The clip showed her with a little shove, not knocking someone on their ass. The response was so over the top and vicious, that at the very least the girl should be thrown off the team and as a result of her representing her school, some disciplinary action there. I'm not excusing the shove but there's a world of difference between a push and someone getting cold cocked. Ridiculous! You don't even know what might have happened prior to the push and yet, you have the girl who gets smacked and is lying on the ground, maybe with a broken nose portrayed as Lambeer, who was one of the dirtiest players ever. How over the top is that from you?????

I am nuts. But I hsve eyes. The instigater was the girl who pushed first. The retaliation wasn't much harder and wasn't a punch but rather a "facial massage".

A cold cock is a sneaky punch to an unaware person. The girl in the white uniform wasn't innocent, nor was that attack unprovoked. The girl lying on the ground got exactly what she gave. You don't take a cheap shot on an opponent and then turn your back on them. And I have no sympathy for her because she instigated (just like Billy L. used to do).

And you also have no idea what went on beforehand. So we only have what is on the clip. And the clip shows the girl who ended up on the floor starting the thing. And looking at the clip again the girl in white not only shoved the defender after the whustle, she elbowed her too.

There are no angels here.

Definitely think #21 had the most adult response (based on the video and the article). Someone ought to give that kid a scholarship, regardless of her talent level. She's a team player in the best sense of the word.

really? So, you think that retaliation ("The girl lying on the ground got exactly what she gave. You don't take a cheap shot on an opponent and then turn your back on them. And I have no sympathy for her because she instigated") for the push was the "correct" response?

No kidding....a new definition of "sportsmanlike conduct"

I never said it was correct. I said it was deserved. Both players should have been tossed and maybe sat down for a game or two. But I have no sympathy for either. Just because one went down is irrelevant to my way of thinking.

Deserved? No. Unsportsmanlike conduct is never deserved. Someone did a wrong. And the wrong thing to do is do it back to them.

I am not saying that fighting back is wrong, sometimes in life fighting back is a necessity. However, in a game situation, retaliating in this manner is wrong. I like what Maya did - she dumped what...40 - 50 points on Syracuse. That was sweet.

The girl shouldn't have retaliated. The game was almost over and they won anyway. Made a mountain out of a molehill.

Skylar shouldn't respond to anyone on Twitter. Can you delete comments from your Twitter?
