The biggest problem I have or "grave concern" is the center position. I know they brought this kid in from penn state but I didn't know that he never played Center ever. I mean Never! and he's the #1 guy. He has to make the o-line calls and not to mention snapping the ball. Would like to see how he does with a blitzing lb or 300 pd. dt over him. If you can't block the middle you can't run the ball. Think they will have to put a scrambling qb in there, cause he might be running for his life out there. Hope this kid can do it, I still can't believe a div.1 school has a 1st stringer who never played the position. Does anybody else think this is odd?
We lost a lot after our BCS bowl year including our coach and depth. it takes time to rebuild a roster.
They put him ahead of a couple of guys who have played OC. It is reported he is still learning the shotgun snap but has done really well on everything else. Besides, he's Canadian, Petrus was Canadian, I see a trend.

No. Moe Petrus was a starting guard who had never played center. They moved him in the offseason after his freshman year. Offensive Linemen get moved from position to position all the time. Heck, Keith Gray was a defensive lineman when he started here, and he became our Center.
I have no clue what "five dimes" means in that context. Does that mean 50 will get you 1500, or, translated, that we're 30 to 1? I'd take that bet.
bl, I believe he means that he got the data from http://www.5dimes.com/, and that a $100 bet will pay off $180 on Louisville, $300 on USF, etc. So UConn is 15:1.
Got it. Thanks. I know how to walk to the window in Vegas and figure this out. Otherwise, not so much.
Sorry. 5dimes is the offshore sportsbook. UConn and Temple are +1500 meaning you get 1500 for every 100 bet or 15-1.
Hate taking futures, but I put a little on UConn at those odds. Almost a bet against everyone else in the Big East as much as it is a bet on UConn.
Futures bets are a joke. If you add up those odds you'll probably see a 100%+ vig. If they are paying 15-1 on UConn... They have them at 50-1. Looking at the schedule there is almost no way they can win league. Four toughest games to close - if they dont get out 6-2 it is going to be a long November.
i think we have about as good a chance to win as anybody. the whole league is a mixed bag, i don't really see any teams that stands out much more than any other. honestly i wouldn't be shocked if Temple got a share. it's probably going to come down to tiebreakers.
Just got throttled in a late night hockey game and thought I'd come here looking for some good news before bed. Didn't need you and Silver to scare the cr@p out of me with this o-line stuff. It's all I think about and unfortunately most peeps here at the yard seem to agree. Ugh!
Stephen Brown doesn't even get mentioned? My biggest concern at the moment is will we have enough lineman for the spring game? I believe that we have eleven healthy bodies, including a couple who may not yet be big enough to play more than a few snaps here and there. If (and this is an enormous if) Jimmy Bennett can come back and we remain relatively healthy everywhere else we will (barely) have enough offensive lineman. Jimmy is as good of a kid as there is and I wish him the best but I'm not sure that (for his long term health) he is making the right decision in trying to again come back but I can fully understand someone his age wanting to continue until he is told that he has to give it up. If you could keep tackle out of the equation, we actually look like we are building something nice (in terms of talent and depth) at guard and tackle. That we may need to lose some of the talent and depth to tackle just to have a full two deep puts the entire line in peril. We will need a great deal of luck in order to survive this season at OL. If we can get through it, things may turn out well moving forward.
