I know there is a thread like this every year....but who were some players that UCONN offered/wanted that ended up choosing other schools? Here are some I know off the top of my head:
1997-Semeka Randall
2004-Crystal Langhorne, Laura Harper
2006-Jackie Gemelos, Jayne Appel
2008-Alicia Manning, Nneka Ogwumike
2010-Chiney Ogwumike
2011-Sara Hammond
2013-Diamond Deshields
2014-A'ja Wilson

UConn was at some point in on Brianna Turner, Jordan Canada, Taya Reimer, Linnae Harper, the other Samuelson sisters, Recee Caldwell, and Stephanie Mavunga just off the top of my head.

A few other ones in recent years that had offers:
2012: Peyton Little, Xylina McDaniel (though they pulled her offer or something like that?)
2013: Karlie Samuelson, Erica McCall
2014: Lexi Gussert, Katheryn Westbeld
2015: Arike Ogunbowale, Asia Durr, Haley Gorecki

The Paris twins, Ashley and Courtney, were very close to coming to UConn. Abby Waner was close to coming to UConn too, but wanted to play with her sister Emily.

2003 - Dee Davis, AAU teammate and good buddy of Mel Thomas. She went to Vandy because she didn't think she was good enough to play at UConn :( What could Geno have done with a point guard of her caliber on the 2004-2007 teams? The mind boggles.

Nikki Blue was another, stayed out in Cali after 9/11 - she didn't want to fly

Jackie Stiles was also a second away from signing with UConn - she ultimately stayed close to home at SW Missouri State, or whatever they're calling themselves these days.

and, yes, Geno recruited Skylar Diggins and Epiphanny Prince hard, no matter how much people want to deny it.

My question is how many did UConn recruit that went on to NEVER win a National Championship?

Alicia Manning was a big loss. At Tennessee, she was the poor woman's Kelly Faris, but under Geno, she could have been...Kelly Faris.

Taber Spani was another LV from that era who I understand Geno wanted. Had her health been better, she could have been GREAT at UConn.

I believe the question should be reversed. How many chose to come & won 'National Championships & final fours' verses those who did not & chose to die on the vine' ?

Brittany Hunter. IMO the #2 miss following Delle Donne.
How good would she have been if she'd never injured her knee at Duke and then compounded it by
playing that stupid crab soccer game on First Night and injuring it again...

Actually, they weren't. The decision came to down to OU and Texas. Ashley wanted Texas; Courtney wanted OU. HuskyNan can confirm that, as well.

I believe they had an on campus visit, with their Dad. I believe Bubba like UConn. Geno would not commit to accepting both. HuskyNan can feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

From Wiki: "Paris chose Oklahoma over UConn, California, Texas, UCLA, and Syracuse."

The one that I thought was a missing piece to another championship although never a star was Chelsea Lee.

So, you're saying they were close to choosing UConn, but Ashley didn't have a scholarship offer? You can drive a truck through that logic . . .

I don't have any inside info, maybe Geno wouldn't commit to playing time. Any way, my definition of "close" includes attending the Super show. Your definition is obviously different. To each his own.

NOT Laura Harper and Crystal Langhorne.

Uconn would've been on an undefeated national championship run from 2008-2010.

Harper, Charles, Langhorne > Parker, Anosike, Fuller. Oh yeah and some freshman named Maya Moore.
