also here is the bottom 20: just silly how some of the locals can't get there together. FFld went downhill during my years in hs and they couldn't keep kids home. the ss from my year went to Quinn instead. Now Quinn went from beating Texas in a game in the ncaa's to off a cliff it looks like. WTF?!?!?! UHart is garbage as usual. but man oh man, what the Duck has happened to CT and northeast baseball!!!!???!!!!! Half the teams are brutal...this hurts our OOC this year rpi wise fo sho.

I usually go to the Warren Nolan site. I really think it is a great site for info on college baseball. They have us at an RPI of 77 and a NPI ( Nolan Power Index) of 62. Not sure what the difference is in those 2 indexes. I do agree that the BC win would have been a nice win. I think we need to be at worst a top 3 team in the BE. The BE is not exceptionally strong this year. So anything lower than 3rd would make our at large bid difficult. Need to win next 2 ( Quin and Brown). These would be bad losses, since I think there combined record is something like 7 - 34.

Warren Nolan has us at 83 in the RPI as it stands now. Brown is atrocious so a win there will likely drop us to somewhere between 85 and 90.

St. John's is currently at 104. They play two games before our series this weekend against 1 really bad team (217 RPI Columbia) and 1 average team (103 RPI Hofstra). Hopefully 2 wins there will bump them up rather than having them drop.

Do things like record against Top 100 RPI teams update as teams move up and down? Put another way, if we were to say sweep St John's and they were around 105 when we first played them and around 120 when we finished sweeping them, then they finished the season in the top 100, would that count as 3 wins against top 100 teams?

Not sure how the RPI works with baseball and how much weight the RPI/SOS is given for ncaa selection but I do know that UConn's numbers right now aren't good enough. We need to get our RPI below 75 soon for good and if we can get into the top 50 I'll feel better about our atlarge chances. Were going to need another 10-2 stretch with some good wins for that to happen. Were def a threat to win the BET so a auto bid would be huge for this team.

We need to do our thing 2moro @ brown. That would put us at 10-2 for that 12 game stretch which is good. Then we can start looking at the next 10ish games. Lville/USF/ND are the teams that can help our RPI at this point significantly. USF/ND are going down slowly as BE play has brought them back to life record wise for those programs. SJU will help a little but they aren't impressive this year overall. LVille is now the most important series for us, we need those top 50ish wins on our resume. Those L's to URI and BC were brutal for us, I know I harp on them but its what it is now....

No. They wouldn't count as 3 wins against top 100 teams. That having been said, you wouldn't be fair to the selection committee if you thought you got tons more credit for sweeping the #98 team than the #105 team. More likely, those wins are viewed almost identically (notwithstanding the oversimplification by categories with which fans review things).

Well record against Top 50, Top 100, Top 200 etc. are just things that get thrown around by fans and talking heads (in basketball anyways, not too many talking heads for college baseball), as you said. Obviously I would hope the selection committee looks a little more in depth than that. I was just wondering how those records were formulated.
