Of course there are "things" that any player takes from playing for someone. "Roots" is a stretch, and diminishes what a coach like Berube has done in developing her coaching style. Her teams play a different game; she doesn't have the same wealth of talent. She's an outstanding coach, doing what she needs to do to succeed. I'd be curious to see how Geno would do with the players she has at Princeton.

Carla coaches “some version” of the Princeton offense, no? Doesn’t Geno coach “some version” of the Princeton offense? I’d be more interested in comparing their defensive schemes and their practice culture. That’s the heart of what UConn is, that’s where Husky culture is developed.
No Dorka, no Azzi, was a blow out until Nika got hurt, then nobody on UConn could handle the press.
Can she recruit? Isn't most of Princeton's team pre Berube?

I believe Meyers is a 5th yr senior/grad transfer who could not play another year @ Princeton due to the Ivy rule where you only get 4 years. The only way to play beyond the 4 years is if you leave the school for a year and then come back.
I know that, Meyers a guard not a post.
When UCONN is running their half-court offensive sets as well..
The more I think about it, I'm not sure Carla would necessarily want that gig. Talk about a "lose-lose" situation, for any coach. Just having to endure the Boneyard would be above and beyond what any coach would want to go thru.
It's a good question. I could see wanting to stay in Princeton, if they pay her well enough. I don't know how oppressive an environment it is there for a coach.
As long as you're not having to pass some of their courses, probably not too bad.
Her "game" is Uconn ball movement with hard cuts and without any post players.
Don't know why so many people seem to think that ball movement and UConn ball movement are somehow synonymous. I watched her Tufts' teams many times, and it was Tufts' ball movement. And her defense is much more complex.
Not more complex defense; dumb statement. It's the defensive intensity that made her Tufts teams so competitive. And last night they held Utah 20 points below their season average, and 10% points below their shooting avarage.

Carla told me herself she likes the ways Geno coaches and has incorporated many aspects into her way of coaching. Of course, Geno has always modified his systems to fit the talent so there will be variations but, yeah, Carla is a branch off Geno’s coaching tree
"A little Geno, a little Jen, a little Jamelle, and a lot Carla". Sorry, I think branch off the coaching tree says something stronger than she was quoted as saying in the interview. Maybe more accurate to say that she, like most coaches,, is a twig off many coaching trees.
