15. Masque of the Red Death. About a plague or metaphorically about death itself. Similar story called The King in Yellow, which was used in the HBO show True Detective last year.
21. When??? The Ohio State (whom I hate) won this year. Superbowl hasn't been played yet.

14. As others have said, "Call for Philip Morris!" But don't forget the background music: "On the Trail" from Ferde Grofe's "Grand Canyon Suite." I can't hear that music today without thinking "Call for Philip Morris!," shouted out in rhythm to the clip-clop of the mules in the music.

17..Ah VAUC, you chose a path where none have gone before, BUT you will know that it has a grammatical
problem. Can 3 words separated by commas be simply "dictator". To my knowledge a person is never identified
in such a fashion.

19. He expressed an appreciation of the strength of the Luftwaffe, but I'm not
sure that makes him a Nazi sympathizer. He was definitely an isolationist (at a
time when most of the country was also).

Oops, did not see the commas and just threw something out there hoping it might stick. May it be assumed then that the guess was wrong?

21. Your hint would suggest a coach named Norm. the only Norm that coached a national champion college team is Norm Schnellenberger(sp?) at Miami, but I do no recall him winning a NFL championship. The only coaches who comes to mind as having won championships at both levels are Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, and Pete Carroll.

He also expressed strong beliefs about the purity of the white race that, even for the time, weren't acceptable. Plus, he was set to move to Berlin in 1938 and 39.

OK, you've done step one, now remember Norm is always the shortened form.

No? Not yet? OK, good buddy VAUC, you are stuck in a mental set. You took "Norm" as meaning A, when it means B.
Try this: It does not mean he favored the ocean, but for a while, at least, he hated still water.

14..Pinot leads a band with Morris...Rbny directs the music.

15..Meyers, geordi, & zorro plague me with their responses.

16..Rbny, VAUC & geordi note the spreading of something else that plagues us.

17.."Modern" North Korea has been ruled by a single family. The 3 names are the succession; the "un" guy rules now.

18..Pinot et al. mention Herman Wouk.

19..Ed4 expresses a dubiousnessity: geordi says he was a commie, but cooler heads prevailed. Wally & friends
know he was a freakin' brown shirt.

20..The simplist or "folk" societies are not into either individual or societal advancement(the "becoming" societies). One has worth for simply "being"
in his or her connectedness to all.

21..Knight emerges from the ether of this dilemma with Barry Switzer. What could be more midsectionish than Ok & Tx?
VAUC asks Ted Danson for another beer.

22..Sure, we all know when CSN sang,"Four dead in Ohio", it was a memorial to the Prez. What?
I could be wrong, you say? Aaah, rbny VAUC & geordi will straighten out my thinking.

23..Generic for Xanax, and I'm pretty sure you're calm and relaxed enough to know what that does.

24..Rbny keeps up with news across the pond, especially when he vied for the position himself.

25..Michael Connelly authors a series featuring LA cop Hiermonymus Bosch.

As I complete this, the last shot has just been fired in the Ladies Final at Melbourne.
