While we all know about the Cochran rule in CT who knew Georgia and KY had a more limiting rule?

Mercy rules in football are not uncommon. High schools across the country have mercy rules in place. For example, Kentucky has a 45-point rule and Georgia has a 30-point rule.

Found this when reading a story on a CA youth league fining teams $200 for winning games by 35 point or more.

Ironic that you should post this. I just finished reading an article in the Waterbury Republican-American penned by their columnist Joe Palladino. He's calling for abandonment of the Cochran rule.

Miami beat Savannah State 77-7 on Saturday night. By mutual consent the fourth quarter was shortened to 12 minutes. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. Miami was seldom at the line of scrimmage until the play clock was at 10 seconds and ran dive plays.
