7..Almost all of Latin America celebrate independence in mid-?.

8..Ron Glass as a cop?

9..Two other state capitals(?) are just about on a straight line from Atlanta to Santa Fe.

2. It's a very sad song about lynching. "Strange fruit" refers to the bodies of blacks hanging from trees.
13. The Spanish conqueror Pizarro

4. "And all the boards did shrink" fits the spaces of your underlines.
If I recall correctly from having been an English major years ago, the poem reads, "Water, water everywhere and all the boards did shrink. Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink."

1..You are not using good sense here.

2..See rbny.

3..Rose of Lima didn't like getting lecherous gazes, geordi & hoop.

4..See rbny with the couplet. Zorro only one word off.

5..Trust hoop here.

6..Meyers thinks it's about time to review Murphy's Romance.

7..Zorro has September.

8..Yes, from Barney Miller, credit to Pinot, geordi & Meyers

9..Meyers names every American city but one. He's right about Little Rock,
but the 2nd is still undone.

10..Pinot with his odd appetite.

11..Just mention "scrapple" in a test and Ice's mouth waters, and he's compelled to answer one question. The movie TRAPEZE.

12..The poem is "The House With Nobody In It." by the guy(?)
who prizes vegetation over verse.

13..Rbny has the right guy in Pizarro.

I'm thinking your idea of a "straight line" and my idea of a "straight line" might differ. ;)

Yes, and might be a little further north of a "straight line" then some of the others were south of a "straight line".
