This position is completely devoid of logic. There will be a PAC 12 stampede for the exit if these reports are true. UConn will not make the cut.
From many accounts/suppositions, there are a handful of PAC schools that don't want much of anything to do with the Big12: Cal, Stanford, Utah, ASU, WA, and OR. That's 6 of the 10 right there.

Seeing more and more about Yormark valuing the northeast market. It makes perfect sense if you want top dollar long term. If Mora has UConn playing good football, UConn’s value will immediately increase exponentially. That would be a real coup for the B12.

Also, remember Yormark’s background. He’s seen the power of New York first hand running Barclay’s Center and the associated businesses. He’s now visiting B12 cities and he’s probably thinking, “Man, we need the Northeast. We’ve got a bunch of small and or redundant markets”.

Then why hasn’t the Big 12 invited UConn if they value us so much? Could they be waiting to see if something better is available?

Man I remember Aresco pretty much giving us a big ephu when we left. I guess he's used to it now.

In any event Aresco should be remembered as the man who took a seven-figure paycheck and ran the conference into the ground. Some will say no one could've done better and while that may or may not be true it's hard to imagine someone doing significantly worse.

He gave away the best branding asset he had, the Big East name, and blue the dust off of the old CUSA game plan and rammed with it. It should've been no surprise that what he ended up with was a replication of CUSA. Leaving that conference was one of the best things conference realignment moves we have made.

Yes. but they could also want to make a final decision and announce new additions at once. It would seem disorganized and unprofessional to add schools one at a time over the course of a 6 month period. It looks far stronger to announce your new schools together and then claim you got exactly the ones you wanted all along.

nothing is moving until the Pac12 media deal is resolved. it stinks, but that's the deal.
once that is resolved everyone essentially is showing their cards.

I can't see any school making a decision without all the facts, and that includes the Pac 12 media deal...

Agreed - almost always in pairs or fours.

They don't need to take 4 PAC 12 schools with BYU already out there. They could easily get away with Colorado, Arizona and then take your pick. We would be the "natural" fourth. West pod of 4, east pod of 4, and then you have two pods of 4 in the middle for football "natural" rivalries.

Yeah, this makes total sense...as long as you can show us the PAC team that gives Yormark the NE/NYC presence he's obviously seeking. Which you can't...so actually, no, your post doesn't make sense.

Here's the thing about the schools in the current PAC...they really aren't that valuable. If they were they'd be getting at least the same media deal the Big 12 got. They're not getting this deal because west coast teams simply don't command the same eyeballs as comparable midwest and east coast teams. Adding PAC schools would certainly feel good to Big 12 twitter folks because they can puff their chests out about poaching another power conference. And while the perception that brings could be something Yormark might value, he doesn't need to grab all of the PAC teams looking to leave in order to achieve this perception. One PAC school will be enough for that...

UConn was a power conference team a decade ago. Had UConn moved out of the Big East along with or instead of any of BC, Cuse, Pitt, WVU, Rutgers, or Louisville, UConn would have bever been considered a G5 team. Being in the American and now current Big East for a decade created that perception. But a smart executive like Yormark isn't going to let that perception dictate his decisions. He's not going to rank Colorado, Zona, ASU, Cal, Stanford, Utah, Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, and WSU ahead of UConn just because UConn spent some time in the G5. UConn profiles like a power conference school, and you can make the argument UConn is a better add than any of the current PAC schools. In fact, a number of those PAC schools - even the ones that may be rumored to the B1G - might find themselves in an eventual G5-ish merger with the mountain west. This is what happened to UConn...who's to say it can't happen to Washington?

The ACC added Louisville on 11/28/2012 after Maryland left.

The Big East expanded to nine football teams on 11/29/2010 when they added TCU.

There is nothing stopping the B12 from inviting UConn tomorrow, it would be a show of confidence and strength, while the PAC 12 continues to publicly piss on their own leg.

Louisville was a replacement. It is rare.

UConn is 5th on board behind the Four Corners schools. We need Colorado to bolt, Utah to stay, and the Arizona schools to bolt or stay together.

UConn is ahead of Washington State and Oregon State, and maybe Utah. That is it.

Any PAC schools leave for the Big 12, UConn is with them. I know you guys don't believe me, but if any of them leave you'll see.
A lot of us feel the same way you do. UConn fans have just been punched in the grapes quite a few times during conference realignment, and some have a hard time believing this may be different. It's understandable.

There's also a vocal minority that has a weird attachment to playing seton hall twice a year in bball, and intentionally devalue UConn's attractiveness to the Big 12 because they want to stay in the Big East. This is not understandable.

In any event, I agree with you...it seems pretty apparent Yormark will want UConn in any expansion scenario, regardless of the number of PAC teams.

What gives you this confidence? Just your gut and what you believe or do you have a solid reason for your assertion?
