I didn't say they did. I said that the North Carolina people looked at BC in consternation and they were like, we have 4 schools within an hour of each other here, and you're worried about UConn? BC: Yes. OK, man, whatever, we'll go with Pitt, doesn't matter to us. Both are just Yankees anyway.

Were it not for BC, UConn gets into the ACC.
It's pretty simple, if the bball schools really wanted UConn in they would've been in. If the football schools wanted UConn in they would've been in.

Read this about Swarbrick and Nordenburg: The Disgusting Stench Of College Athletics

Do you remember the time Nordenburg said this at a press conference?

This all happened because BC assumed control of the BE reorganization after VT and Miami left.

He's saying that Leahy engaged in secret dealings, misappropriated conference resources (otherwise known as stealing), making predatory attempts to eliminate competition, and breaking their word.

This was an open assault on BC and the ACC.

And like I said, a top Syracuse official posted on the former Boneyard that Leahy was publicly upbraided as a liar in front of academics for taking on the role of BE honcho while he was plotting with the ACC.

In 2011, Swarbrick then turned around and then accused Nordenburg of being a liar and a hypocrite.

Do you realize that no UConn president or AD made such comments about ACC people?

Pitt, Syracuse, BC, Notre Dame, all accused each other in public of being liars, hypocrites, robbers, cheaters.

Maybe they all deserve each other?
Thanks for digging

When has UCONN ever been known as having a great basketball fanbase? Even when UCONN was winning?
This post proves a hunch I had. These guys aren't UConn fans. No UConn fan asks this question because they already know the answer. The Field House used to be SRO in the 70's against Ivy and Yankee conference teams. Fifty years later they're setting records at MSG.

It shows we ran up the white flag and admitted we're small time
Honestly just delete your account. You’ve complained about this too much and you’re fixed to saying this on every thread.
And....who has the first?

Men's ice hockey

On June 21, 2012 Connecticut announced the program would join Hockey East as the conference's 12th member beginning in the 2014-15 season. As part of the move from Atlantic Hockey to Hockey East, the university added 18 scholarships for the men's ice hockey team and additional scholarships to existing women's sports programs to meet Title IX gender equity requirements. The university was also investigating options to build a new, larger ice arena on-campus as its then-current venue, the Freitas Ice Forum, has a seating capacity of only 2,000 and was too small for the jump up to Hockey East. Since then, UConn has used the XL Center, a former NHL venue in downtown Hartford, as its primary men's home. While the arena has a hockey capacity of 15,635, UConn has capped ticket sales at 8,089. Select home games have also been played at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. The Freitas Ice Forum now hosts games only for the women's hockey team.

Men's soccer
In addition to its basketball success, UConn is known for its championship soccer teams. The men's team has won two NCAA national championships, in 1981 and 2000, and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America named the undefeated 1948 team the national champion. The 2000 team was known for its stellar depth on the bench including the likes of Garrett Grinsfelder, Michael Rueda, and Ryan Brown, who exuded the team's "never say die" attitude. The men's team won back to back Big East championships in (2004 and 2005). As of 2011 UConn led the nation in total attendance in eight of the preceding 12 seasons. No program can match it for having drawn better on-campus support for more than 30 years. In the early 1980s, before the NCAA kept soccer attendance records and before Morrone Stadium was downsized, the Huskies drew huge crowds. Total attendance in 1983 was 64,535—a record that held until 2010.

The fact is they really didn't care about any of these schools. You think they cared about Pitt and BC or any of them? No. They thought they needed to expand.

Point remains: were it not for BC's blackball, UConn would have been in the ACC.

I can’t believe some people here are upset about this move. This is great news. The only negative is I wish this happened a few months ago when we were going after previous and kofi. Might of changed things. Lol. Still can’t believe kofi went to Illinois. Lolololololol

Don’t get greedy Hurley already got Gaffney, Bouknight and possibly Jackson. Some or whom Cuse was recruiting hard. Also you know who that started in January. No matter how I try I can’t find a place to write his name without it being censored. I already tried. Oh well you all know who I mean.

Nothing wrong with being the Villanova of late...

A couple of NC's in the last four years...

Ranked preseason top five by most.

#2 recruiting class.

That is where UConn wants to go.

Oh...I do understand the "we are UConn" response...but Villanova, right now is who must be overtaken.

It was just the excitement. There was something to be excited about. There was nostalgia for that game.
Nothing since then.
We can get that excitement again. Every year.

True but I was pretty excited by Shabazzand the 2014 Championship and at the dame time the women one a Ch also.

You’re not a UConn fan if you want to see our historically great basketball program which is the pride of our university die at the expense of a dead football program

With Coach Hurley aboard I’m very happy with the future players coming in just the future of the B.B. program.

Most of my friends and Bearcats alum are happy UConn is returning to the Big East and it’s not because they don’t want to play UConn. UC wants out of the AAC just as badly as many UConn fans have wanted (at least from what I can tell since joining the BY). Any Xavier fans I’m around are glad to have UConn to play now also
I will admit that it’s nice to be wanted for a change.

It's probably a mistake, but I recall that UConn was serving their APR ban in '12-'13.

To what I believe is your overall point, the Big East used to be the best and deepest basketball conference in the country. The New Big East is not that. UConn was not dominating the AAC on the court year in and year out. They had a losing record the last 3 years. Yet it was the conference that was dragging them down.

Well it was in a way because the conference was one of the main reasons recruiting was down, the other was the coach at the tie. Then we lost our Mojo.

We were in the AAC for the sole benefit of the football program. The AAC was a strain on the basketball program. This isn’t rocket science. Had the football team even been respectable it may had been worth it. But the football program has become a parody. There is no tangible benefit right now to weighing our basketball program down by a failed experiment

What? The American is the Big East. We never left it. We added football in the Big East. We didn’t choose the AAC. It was simply the status quo. There was no failed experiment. We successfully and rapidly became competitive in the Big East. Football was an unqualified success.

Unfortunately the landscape changed, and we were left out. But the only mistake we made with football was being far, far too late, along with bad hires.

You are correct about BCU. However, without the lawsuit the conference might have told themto bend over and take it. Being the face of the lawsuit and filing in Rockville instead of allowing Pitt to take the lead did not help
Did The idiot! Have to suecollege Presidents like Shalaya and I forget who else he sued just to gat in the news again. bCdid not reject us because of the suit, according to Flipper I think at the time was BCs AD! ESPN instructed him yo do it.
I detestESPN and their fanboy Cuse employees.

Nobody knows what the AAC is, they think it's a typo for ACC.
If you asked the average person across the country to name teams in the AAC and the Big East which conference would get more correct responses?

Football was a failed experiment. We tried it and it failed in the grand scheme of things. The AAC being the original big east has ZERO to do with anything I said. We stayed instead of leaving with the catholic 7 because o football.

I can only go by sports fans I interact with and nobody knows anything about the AAC. My friends from Houston only know about it because I always have to tell them UConn is actually in the same conference as Houston. From what I've seen people in Houston don't give a s*** about the University of Houston, same goes for Tulane and people in New Orleans.
