There is a Middlefield. Near Durham. Buried in the wooded hills south of Middletown, off the path of route 9, very secluded and private.

Right next to my house. I'm from Middletown. Middlefield shares a border.

And one of the sections of Middlefield is Rock Fall which has its own post office. It's all part of greater Middletown.

Middlefield is a nice little town with Lyman Orchards and 36 holes of golf on the Orchards as well as one of the nicest little water falls in Rock Falls. Lake beset as well (what's the bar on the Lake near Indian Springs the 9 hole golf course?)......Was a nice little place to party in the late 70's too........on the Middletown border and runs on Rt68 from Wallingford to Durham as well as on the Meriden edge by Black Pond and Guida's hot dog place.

Powder Ridge is the reason I first got to know it over 40 years ago. Not the best skiing--not even close to decent--but if you grew up in Southern CT it's likely one of the places where you learned, as it was the closest. Also had night skiing, which could be made more challenging by imbibing man-made "obstacles" when we were older.

I love the Jones course and HATE the Player course.

yeah grew up on the Jones with some guys from Meriden, went out at 5:30 on weekends and paid as we finished. Also bartended downstairs part time in the late 70's while attending Middlesex CC..........Player course is too much target although there are some fun holes there too.

Ii you are old enough to remember Powder Ridge (nee Powder Hill) ski area, it is in Middlefield, as is Lake Besick, which has many summer cottages surrounding it & is an attractive location for boating & fishing.
