Just SO entertaining: The band is on the field!

California scores a late TD to take a 19-17 lead over favored Stanford.
John Elway [That John Elway] takes Stanford down the field to hit a short
field goal...Stanford 20-18...maybe 4 seconds left in the game.

Stanford kicker hits a squib kick...California player gets it....and laterals
galore happen. Runner evades tackles and around the 15 yard line the band
[both bands?] are on the field. He dodges everybody and scores a TD...
California 25-20. Does it count? Flags all over. It counts! 25-20 Cal.

Announcer justifiably goes quite crazy. One heart breaks...one is joyful.

The following year, the Stanford Band tryouts included tackling drills. :D

Too bad the rules for this game don't include coaches because if it did the ultimate quote would be:

"We have Diana, and you don't."

Most of us know the circumstances, the author of the quote and who it references from back in 2004.

What’s the answer to the one I posted above you? I mean who screamed it on the air?

CONN78SEJ- - My first guess would be Gary Thorne, after Aaron Boone hit the HR off the late Tim Wakefield, to go to the 2003 WS!

OR Bill White at Boston 1978 extra game when Bucky "F--g" Dent hit that HR!

Good guesses but it was the Scooter Phil Rizzuto when Chris Chambliss hit his walk off HR against the Royals in game 5 of the 1976 playoff, winning the first Yankee pennant since 1964. Still remember him screaming it………”THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT….THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT….THE YANKEES WIN THE PENNANT”

"The only thing you know about pitching is how hard it is to hit."

‘Don’t dig in against Bob Gibson, he’ll knock you down. He’d knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don’t stare at him, don’t smile at him, don’t talk to him. He doesn’t like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don’t run too slow, don’t run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don’t charge the mound, because he’s a Gold Glove boxer.’ I’m like, ‘Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?’ That was the night it ended.”

On end zone dancing: "Act like you've done it before and act like you plan on doing it again" - John Riggins, who was "asked" to leave the White House because he was, well, inebriated... (that alone cements the Diesel in my hall of fame book.)
“Come on, loosen up, Sandy baby, you’re too tight.” John Riggins to US Supreme Court Justice Sandra day O'Connor at a Washington Press Club dinner. Riggins had been a bit overserved.
