With the graduation of Ryan Kalish and Will Middlebrooks from prospect status, SoxProspects.com has now rated former UConn starting pitcher Matt Barnes the #1 prospect in the Red Sox organization. Congrats Matt!
Only took him 72.2 IP to get there too. Looking forward to seeing how he does at AA whenever he gets promoted (probably the start of next year)
BTW: I don't know if this has been mentioned. Several weeks ago Peter Gammons was talking about the need for the Sox to develop some young starters...specifically mentioning Doubrant as one. In the same vein he went on to say that Matt Barnes would be in Boston in 2 or three years...said it with the utmost of certainty.
If it takes 3 years, he hit some significant ro . At the rate he's progressing, if he's not on the starting roster by 2015, I'd be surprised.
Well, Barnes has had three horrific starts since being moved to #1. 3.2IP/5ER, 1IP/3ER, 3.2IP/6ER. Not sure what's up...but interesting to say the least.
