I just looked up the box score for the game when Maya hit 10 treys against 'Cuse. She was 10-14 from the arc and 14-23 overall for 40 points. She added 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in playing 36 minutes.

Kaleena shot 10-13, all from the arc and had 30 points. She added 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, all in 24 minutes. If she had played 36 minutes, she might have had 15 treys.

Two great players. Two great shooters. UConn jersey #23.

When Kaleena shoots, there are no offensive rebounds to be had. :)

Big difference in the two games. In that 2009 game, Geno released the dogs and Maya was on a mission. I don't think that anyone was going to get in the way of Maya for anything that night. Certainly not the case in last night's game that I observed. Apples to Oranges...

I think she may wear #33, but Katie Lou is a sharpshooter extraordinaire.

Agreed. The 'Cuse game was unusual. But I think it's interesting to see Maya's greater range of shots and Kaleena's efficiency in far fewer minutes.

Why did Geno release the dogs for that game?

You can say that again...maybe about 50 times

I know it is Sunday Ice, but that is too charitable! The highest and best purpose of the Boneyard is the preservation of the legend and lore of the greatest women's collegiate sports team. It is up to us old dogs, while memory permits, to pass on to the young ones the detail of the history of the program so that the Saga Tapestry of the Huskies is rich and true and beautiful (oops, just threw up a little in my mouth) and beauty sometimes involves a little blood and gore.

Exactly. Geno thought that committing repeated felonies in broad daylight was not part of basketball. :)

Wow, Maya was only about 44% from two and substantially higher from three point land. Maya was a remarkable player in virtually all areas and my favorite Husky ever. Her maturity on and off the court from her first day on campus was and is totally amazing. The way she's always been so articulate and so self effacing, even in the face of all her accomplishments. To me the two players who are the face of UConn basketball in their grace and abilities are Ray Allen for the men and Maya for the women. I can't fathom how we could ask for any more than those two representing us though we're lucky to have other pretty impressive players that also reflect highly on UConn basketball. Looking at our present rosters and our newly signed recruits, I can't see an end to the good fortune that Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma have brought to our tiny state. Go Huskies!
