Jalen can and will be our starting PG come conference time. It was Jalen not Gibbs out there at the end of the game. The kid needs some more games under his belt but this team is run better with Jalen. Also KO put Jalen on Gibbs in the second half. Speaks volumes of the trust KO has in this kid.

The 2 bricked layups at the end was him lobbying for Gibbs's spot by finishing like him.

He is a freaking frosh, and one of those layups was a reverse that he was off balance. This kid is a star and every game that goes by, he will get better and better. Watch and see, Jalen will be our starting PG come conference time.

Guess he wants DHam's spot too because that's how he finished in the first half too in case you missed the bunnies he missed?

Adams had his moments but he also killed us. Missed layups, attacking with nobody to rebound, getting lost on defense, fouling on drives, and that killer (very minor, I admit) foul on Trimble that led to the Ollie T.

I hear ya'll but we need a pure PG out there running the show. Gibbs lacks the speed and footwork to handle a Nic Moore, Troy Capuain, or a Woodward. Jalen gives us the chance to lock those guys down and I believe he is buying into KO's philosophy of defense first.

He did but he while he missed a couple even those showed some special qualities especially the follow up on his own miss. He's really good but a freshman. You can't even bring up[ the foul at the end he did NOT foul Melo, not even close. Cut him off and then gave him space just like your taught. Awful awful call.

Can't start Adams yet. Ollie can use him effectively by putting a very short leash on Gibbs and Purvis. When he plays however he should never be the 2 guard, like last night.

I didn't see a lot of great defense outside of about 5 minutes. Even during our run there were too many uncontested drives to the basket allowed. Another last chance effort to keep me from toal depression. But that is getting old
On offense, I think Miller & Hamilton showed they belonged. That was about it.

Starting two shooting guards is not working....in the past we have played with 2 point guards....this year there are heavy stretches we are playing without one. I know some folks like the idea of Hamilton running the show (and on some sets that can work) but you lose his ability to create mismatch at the 3 position...so by having him play PG you are making us slightly better at one position at the expense of making us weaker at another. It seems common theme in these second half surges is that Adams is on the floor- even if he is not doing much of the scoring...

I think Gibbs should play off the ball and be more of a shooter

Dham would have like 8 turnovers a game if he was our primary PG. He's good at what he does but teams would press him into turnovers.

if anyone thinks jalen adams had anything to do with our problems, realize who was running the point in both of our big come backs

Our comeback was because Purvis hit 2 3's, Hamilton hit 3 3's (5/6 from 3 as a team during those 6 minutes), Maryland missed a few 3's, and Amida played great defense for a 6-minute stretch. Adams made one nice steal and layup.

Gibbs looks absolutely timid and gun-shy out there. If that's the case then he really isn't anything more than a better shooting version of SCG & Omar. He hasn't played a lick of D either and while I understand that's not his strong suit, he can't be a liability out there

Thank you, I'm fully on board the Jalen Adams is going to be a great UConn player train, but anyone calling for Gibbs to be benched in favor of Adams wasn't watching the game I was. He played well at times, but made a bunch of bad decisions, and missed a lot of easy shots. He was just tossing it up there like he's Shabazz Napier... but Shabazz usually made the circus shots he put up, or he would at least take 4 in a game and make a couple. When Adams got the rebound of his own miss near the hoop and just effortlessly tossed it up, I was VERY frustrated, this is UConn basketball... value that possession

I agree, but as I mentioned in another thread I think injecting Adams at the 1 and sliding Gibbs over to the 2 would help. Gibbs is too good of a shooter to bench, and a lot of his missed shots were contested/ill-advised threes.

So lineup would be Adams, Gibbs, Purvis, Hamilton, Brimah. We could have Jalen running pg driving to score(which would hopefully collapse the D), then kick out to an open Gibbs/Purvis if needed.

We then have Hamilton as the stretch 4 (better version of Deandre Daniels) who can pop the 3 but also drive/collapse D if needed. Brimah there for defense and alley oops.

Yes, our rebounds would suffer....but haven't they already lol? I think the 2014 championship team got outrebounded a lot, but still did pretty well.
