They'd be hard pressed to top '10-'11, or Drummond all by himself, let alone Top 10 teams.

If Akok takes the leap the majority of us expect he will, then this frontcourt will be the best since the 03'-04' season.

Next year we will have the most talented front court we’ve had in quite some
time. Especially if Akok is 100%.
Sonogo, Whaley, Akok , Johnson, Throw Polley snd Spring into the mix and I’m impressed.
However having a great front court doesn’t insure success
In 2012 we had a great front court in theory but fizzled.
Oriakhi , Drummond, snd Smith look good on paper. That’s with two NBA 1St rounders at guards.
Success comes from fitting the pieces together effectively not from the pieces individually.

In recent months, I've noticed that my finger taps on the phone a bit to the right of my intent, so that the number 1 often shows up as a 2. If this is what happened with you, then, yeah, I can see potential for this to be the best front court since a decade ago, when Drummond and Oriakhi didn't pair well together.

Then again, you listed 4 teams from the first decade of the 21st Century. On that score, I can only offer that your post is, quite Scrappy.

It should be quite good, especially if Akok is fully recovered. But you’ve got two teams there with 4 1st round draft picks.

Adama Sanogo should also be much improved this year. He has sort of a power finesse game going, and I look for him this year to be kind of unstoppable at times. More power, more confidence, veteran post moves, more rebounding, better defense, better foul shooting. All of it.

He should be first team, second team, all BIG EAST. He's our killer down on the blocks.

Agreed. For the record, I think it's essentially a given that the 03'-04' frontcourt can't be beaten unless this year's frontcourt has a miraculous season and Sanogo turns into Emeka right before our eyes.

Even though the players you mention were eventually drafted 1st rd, IMO you have to judge the player based on their contribution to the individual college season. For example, would you rather have a senior Jeff Adrien (undrafted) on your husky team or a freshman Boone (eventually drafted)? Boone averaged 6 & 6 on the 03'-04' team and was the 7th highest scorer. Adrien averaged 14 & 10 on the 08'-09' season and was the 2nd highest scorer.

Then it begs the question, is Akok eventually 1st rd draft material if he has a phenomenal end to his husky tenure? Work ethic, mindset, and skillset are all there. Also, is Sanogo 1st rd draft material? His trajectory is pointing to yes. If Whaley and Polley turn into solid overseas players and the team makes a surprise final four run then the debate for 2nd best frontcourt in the last 20 years is firmly up for debate. This isn't even adding in Martin (who can play PF) and Samson who when it's all said and done could have the highest ceiling of them all.

I'm an optimist that enjoys projecting, that is all.

2009? Even 2011 is pretty darn talented, if not "better."
