Someone who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream, separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream. What kind of president do we want running the university after she is gone? That is the big question.
I think there is some truth to that but she also had problems with Presidents in the old Big East.Up north, they hire faculty to be presidents.
Down south, they hire ex-Senators and businessmen. Two different type of people.
-She was ill prepared to manage conference realignment.
-Her hire for AD was ill prepared to hire conference realignment.
-Her hire for AD hired Bob Diaco.
-Her hire for AD was responsible for Ollie's ridiculous contract stipulations/buy out.
-She's been completely tone deaf regarding athletics and its impact to the state/alumni.
UConn football can't seem to win more than 3 games a season and basketball just had back to back losing seasons.
Athletics are in the tank, in a horrible league and the AD is bleeding money.
Are you going to argue we're in better shape now than when she took over?
Someone who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile. What kind of president do we want running the university after she is gone? That is the big question.
No, the South FL Prez is very popular with her peer group. Is it because of the vagina thing?
Leave Susan out of this here. Benedict is at fault here. I can't wait for the day in the not too distant future when he shows up for work and the key to his office suddenly malfunctions. When he calls maintenance, two security personal guards will arrive under the direction of Herbst and escort him out of UCONN.No surprise here, I have posted several times on here that Herbst or Benedict or both will have to resign because of the way they handled the Kevin situation. She’s taking the high road before The ship hit the rock.
Fair post. I disagree though. She and Manuel appeared to sit idly by watching Tom Jurich run the end around play to get the ACC bid. Maybe Loserville gets it anyway, but the lack of effort from our administration was negligent and clueless. You can also argue it's hindsight, but she hired Manuel without the recogniton and awareness that he already had one foot out the door toward Ann Arbor from day one at UCONN. He also made a disasterous hire when Bobby Fiasco landed in Storrs. Sorry, but she gets to own those two hires and the resulting disaster that football has become, hindsight or not.
You mean effect. The affect of the Herbst Era on UCONN athletics cannot be summarized any better than this.
I don't think it is a dichotomy. Tuition (faster) (Revenue) and overall spending (expenditures (quite fast) are BOTH up.Except costs aren't up.
People confuse exponential increases in tuition with a rise in costs. Expenditures are not rising faster than the cost of living.
Tuition is rising exponentially faster.
I posted an article on costs/tuitions on the realignment board a couple of weeks ago.
Hopefully AD Benedict will be at UConn for a few more years. He has done a fantastic job leading UConn athletics through very difficult financial times. AD David Benedict and Uconn had to figure out how to survive and move forward as a mid-major. Unfortunately, I believe a power 5 school will come calling for him very soon. That is one of the challenges facing a mid-major program. You become a stepping stone. As soon as the AD or coaches starts to win on a consistent basis, he or she, will likely get plucked up by a Power 5 school. Then the process starts over again with a new AD or Coach.Leave Susan out of this here. Benedict is at fault here. I can't wait for the day in the not too distant future when he shows up for work and the key to his office suddenly malfunctions. Herbst is a woman. Shouldn’t this thread be on the women’s forum?Mods, pls ban, thx.
Totally bogus.Herbst wasn’t well liked or respected in the President’s club.

I should stop by his tailgate then, I could use the ego boost.Someone goes to Nostical’s tailgate, and they’re automatically great at their job. Par for the course.

Tuition is though, and has for decades.Expenditures are not up a lot. They are not outpacing inflation.

Herbst did a great job for UCONN. Her main priority was the UCONN academics and STEM expansion. She knock it out of the park with that. We now have more qualify candidates then we have space for. The international student pipeline is also rocking. UCONN is now the premier public university in the from New York to the Northeast. She was not push out, the job of a University president involve alot of traveling and fund raising. Begging for money is humbling to say the least. One can only handle that many meetings and hearings. She'll go back to what she love the most. This is teaching
Totally bogus.
