Read Geno's exact words above. Geno states "IF we don't..." , "IF we start relegating..." THEN such and such.... He never makes the declarative statement of fact that "Belichick Is Only Coach Worth (Expletive) Right Now." He was creating a hypothetical, hypothesizing that IF you are going to compare, acknowledge and assess excellence and greatness, THEN, the since the NFL is the most popular and successful sport, therefore Belichick is the greatest because his team is the greatest. His intent shot right over their heads; the media is mostly incapable of intelligent thought. First Take's headline is completely misleading and inaccurate- it should have ended with a question mark, as an interrogatory, since they conveniently chose not to include Geno's qualifying words that set up the entire premise. Crappy reporting, save for Kate Fagan. She's sharp, she gets it. The rest of the media, not so much.

I enjoyed that and I think it is good for the game to have that kind of exposure with at least three out of four arguing that it is a great accomplishment that stands on its own and deserves to be held in awe in a parallel universe to Wooden.

On - not getting the quote exactly right ... they were making a point not quoting a three paragraph statement by Geno, and got the essence of his meaning into the context of the discussion.

Earth shaking, no. But the kind of 'good exposure' you want for women's sports on a general sports program.
