Recently moved up from D2. One of a zillion public unis in TX -- has 14k students now and will surely grow.

The more D1 schools the better. My son wants an NFL or D1 training job when he gets certified next year. :)

UMass Bamford looking for a conference that will take UMass as a football only member and has reached out to CUSA very recently:

It's a desperate conference that may be down to 3 members.
Wait a few days and they'll be pleading with Mater Dei HS to go FBS.

Call the priest for last rites…

Probably, But $33M in exit fees can provide a lot of motivation. Suppose the remaining 3 offer to split that with any school that joins? Does that entice Sam Houston, Tarleton, McNeese to move up?

Maybe… I’ve seen a lot of very sick patients buy some time w/ an infusion of new blood. ;)

CUSA has been around a long time so it’s destruction is sad.
It actually was born in a merger between the Metro and Great Midwest.
It was a landing spot for teams blackballed by ESPN by the SWC and Big 8 merger.
This list of schools that were in and out of all variations of the Conference is impressive.
The Big East raided it twice. 2005-2012.
When we played DePaul in 2004 NCAA tourney they were a CUSA member as were Marquette, and St Louis.
I believe West VA soccer still is in CUSA.
Like in the food chain the stronger hunt the weaker. Sometimes to extinction.

Ever since the WAC expanded in January, everyone kinda knew that they were going to go FBS in a few years. What is new here?

And can CUSA peel off two (or 3) of those members to go along with Liberty and JaxSt to get to 8?

I am curious about all these Texas schools in FBS. Yes TX has a ton of players, but it hasn't led to riches for UNT, Texas St, or UTEP. UTSA has only recent success. And now you're adding Sam Houston, probably Tarleton, and possibly Abilene C, SFA, Lamar, and Incarnate Word.
18 schools?!

Even California only has 7 if I'm remembering correctly.
