3 places you probably don’t want to play at when their teams are good.

Hillhouse, Weaver, and Bulkeley.
In the fieldhouse or in the regular gymnasium?

I played for Career and played games in the fieldhouse. The gymnasium in the school is much smaller and much more hostile. The fieldhouse isn't that intimidating

School gym for me. Yes, it was hostile to say the least. lol

The previous year we played at their place in the regular season and they beat us fairly handily. Shamon Antrum was the NH Register State POY and dropped 29 on us. Went on to play at Washington State I think?

I’ve actually never played at Hillhouse so I’m moreso referring to what I’ve heard. Can’t believe they have a Jumbotron at the fieldhouse for high school games. Career used to have some really good teams too! I remember them making (and maybe winning?) state a few times during that late 2000s early 2010s time.

Definitely had times leaving Weaver where something got thrown at the bus.

We did burn a couch in the quad after Ohio State, but a cop helped us get the fire going.
We also burned a couch, one of our own and not the university's, outside Fairfield in the Jungle after beating Ohio State in the NIT title game.

I never understood the desire to be angry or violent over a win. I was a sophomore living in the jungle in 99 and the last thing I wanted to do was throw rocks at cops or flip a car.

I remember that night and that couch I lived in northwest in 99 also my sophmore year. What a weekend that was, though the spring weekend of 98 a sight to behold. That was some reckless stupid stuff that happened

Yeah. I was living in northwest in 98 spring weekend and it was worse than the final four and natty combined.

Lived in Jungle as Freshman in 1990 and after our buzzer beater loss to Duke we came back from the game to see the entire student lounge in a huge bonfire. At least the students there have been consistent with their rage over the years.

Ever been to a travel baseball game! It’s another world.

Thrown chairs. Drunk and high coaches. Coaches swinging at me. Multiple parent arrests.

Don't coach AAU guys, no matter how good the team. It ain't worth it.

I’m sure the students are really taking this to heart
I've yet to see the "bad kid" who could not be turned around by a mildly stern worded letter. Really there are no bad kids there are only bad letters.

Umpiring a LL playoff game, I called it for rain after 3 or 4 innings. It was literally monsoon conditions. The field had turned into a swamp and we had waited about an hour and half. In the pouring rain, the losing coach chased me to my car, pounding on it as I drove away yelling, "you'll never umpire in this town, again!"

To be fair, he was right! I was done with that nonsense.
That’s a tough gig
My 13-14 year old ,at the time , son was a certified soccer referee , who occasional did games between other towns.
I use to describe my role as an unpaid linemen and driver of the getaway car.

Ha…youth hockey. Where 15 year-old kids refereeing 6am games get berated for their time.
Hah, I resembled that remark. Missed a squirt game offsides call which resulted in a goal. Coach/parent of impacted team grabbed me by the collar and berated me for my %£#¥*€ blah blah blah call. Told him he had to leave the bench backed up by college age ref partner. Jackarse refused to leave until 2 police officer parents at the game (1 from each team escorted him away and out of the rink).

Subsequently, the joker was not allowed back to the town rink for 1 1/2 seasons even to watch his kids play. Not a good idea to physically touch a 14 year old ref, especially when the ref’s father was the league president.

Years later, jackarse coach was imprisoned for repeated wife beating and sexually assaulting his kids. Wonder how they and he’s fared in the interim.

I always thank the refs afterwards regardless of outcome. I can’t skate and have zero qualifications to coach hockey so I run the scoreboard, keep the stats and most importantly (to the kids at least) am the team DJ. Our parents aren’t too bad but man, I’ve heard things that would’ve gotten me a wooden spoon across the hide if I had said them coming from adults. Of course I live close to Philly…so go figure.

I found it pretty funny how you managed to turn the Creighton email into a chance to bash UConn

Pointing out that Hurley voiced a complaint to the Big East about the Creighton crowd is bashing UConn? It's just a statement of fact.

It Hurley doesn't complain publicly the email never gets sent.
