McDermott is a hell of a coach, Creighton shout out of their mind, and we got shook by Clingan’s foul trouble. This was always going to be a very tough game. I don’t think this is a bigger concern, sometimes you just run into a team firing on all cylinders.

Tough to win when you don't defend well. Tough to win when the other team is red hot. Impossible to win when both happen. This loss sucks more because we had the chance to break another record (big east win streak) and guarantee regular season big east championship.

None of our remaining games are layups

Can’t do much when a team shoots like that from 3. Spencer perimeter defense and our interior D without Clingan were brutal. If we lose in the NCAAs I think we will see 3 things:
  • Clingan foul trouble
  • Spencer net negative (points given up vs scored)
  • Opposing team 3% greater than 40%

Don’t think we will struggle like that again this year but two of our five toughest Big East games are yet to be played.

Cam and AK gave us nothing on either end. Steph to a lesser extent. Now we know that we aren’t some juggernaut that is matchup proof. Cam has been absolutely incredible all year but was borderline unplayable tonight. I’ll wager a guess that probably won’t happen again.

Hurley has been saying we are arguably the best offensive and defensive team in the country since Clingan is back. Well we were pretty stagnant offensively, plus missed a ton we may usually make, and no one really had any type of good game defensively.

Back to the drawing board.

Positive: thought Castle played well tonight other than when he hit the backboard to the side of the rim on a straight on jumper for the 2nd time this season.
This was his worst game as a Husky, bar none. He played good D on Schiermann for a half. He was not good.

Creighton brought the haymakers early and man oh man did they catch fire.

Expected a tough showing after all momentum, energy and effort poured into Marquette…but not this bad. They suffocated us on the three point line, the same thing SH did.

TNew had to pull a Jalen Adams tonight just to keep us actually getting shots up.

In a massive game with Clingan and Kalk, one gets the soft whistle and one gets the quick whistle. Odd choice by the zebras.

Either way, it gives Danny all the fuel we need.

Can’t wait to see us rebound for gameday on Saturday.
