If a three seed is a Cinderella, then the percentage of basketball teams sweeping fireplaces is a lot larger than the fairytales I read as a kid seemed to suggest. ;)
 Yeah, true! I guess I just interpreted this as under-the-radar teams that are really good. I don't think Oregon State is getting the love it deserves but yeah they don't meet the technical definition of a Cinderella.

I'll change my answer to Drake. I have them upsetting Colorado in my main bracket.

Oregon State, without a doubt. I feel like they were overlooked by the media this season despite their success.

What was their success? They had like a non-conference NET SOS of 303 which is absolutely shameful for a P5 school. They did beat Top 10 UCLA at home on a buzzer beater. Other than that, no wins against the Top 16 seeds.

None of the these are cinderellas, they are Al from Major conferences.
That's not my definition. No one has these teams sniffing the sweet sixteen...some not even the 2nd round. All are underdogs to me...and also taking into account their draw.

Underdog isn’t synonymous with Cinderella though. Most of these teams are single digit seeds. Syracuse has been to a championship game in the last decade for Peet’s sake. They are not a Cinderella. Tennessee has 8 NATIONAL championships and started the season ranked. Underdogs, yes. Cinderellas? No, absolutely not.

If we are just going to redefine words here, I expect South Carolina to upset Sacred Hart in the first round.

Creighton

Florida State

Syracuse

Tennessee

Who do you have?
I like the Florida State pick. They beat Tennessee, beat Virginia Tech when healthy. They have a trio of guards who are really good. They do lose some games unexpectedly as well but they are a sleeper. I like the Tennessee pick as well. Probably will have the best player on the court in 90 percent of matchups. Tamara key and Jewel Spear have improved throughout the season.

Duke is really the only true “Cinderella” left considering seedings. And honestly it’s not that crazy they are here if you’ve watched them play this year.

One interesting angle is out of the 16 schools remaining, how were these teams viewed in the pre season before the first tip off occurred?

Within the ACC Duke and State were picked 7th and 8th respectively. Neither team had anyone selected for preseason All Conference or on the newcomer watch list.

Similarly in the PAC 12 USC and Oregon State were picked 6th and 9th.

USC picked 6th is more of a testament to the depth of the PAC 12 though as they were also preseason top 25.

It appears Gonzaga, Duke, NC State and Oregon State were the only unranked schools in the preseason to still be alive in the sweet 16.

All but Oregon State got votes in the Preseason AP - just not top 25. NC State was close at 27. Gonzaga and Duke were at 31, 32. Top 25 Polls - 2024 Women's College Basketball | WarrenNolan.com
